Hello. and thank you for viewing my auction.  I am representing a beautiful 1976 Mercedes Benz 450 SL. The VIN number is. 10704412034737. This automobile is owned by an elderly relative of mine. She bought this car new from Atlanta Classic Mercedes Benz in September of 1976. She has been the sole owner since that time. I have the original metal VIN registration plate with her name on it. The  current title. that will be issued to the winning bidder. states the matching name. Also. I have the original window sticker. original build sheet. all books and manuals. and original instruction cards. Each of these items. in addition to the keys and convertible top removal tool. will be presented to the new owner. This car spent the first 15 years of its life in the state of Georgia. In 1991. she relocated to the Carolinas. From then to now. it has spent its time split between two homes in North and South Carolina. Recently. she purchased a 2014 Mercedes Benz and has chosen to part ways with this car. I am listing the car for her because I know these SL's very well. I own a 1989 560 SL with 22. 00 original miles on the odometer. In addition. I have known this car since I was a small child. I have had the pleasure of riding in it / driving it numerous times since it was purchased in 1976.

This 450 SL is finished in a beautiful and glossy bright white. The interior color is parchment and the soft top is blue. This car turns heads! The color combination is timeless. classic and elegant. The blue soft top and white accented hubcaps add that extra touch of 'classic Mercedes Benz appeal'. The exterior of the vehicle is in amazing condition! The white paint has a shimmer and shine in any light. Honestly. it looks as if it were painted yesterday! The chrome trim is shiny and bright. The rubber bumper trim pieces surrounding the car are all in 'like-new' condition. One of the rear rubber impact pads on the bumper had a crack in it. I replaced it with a new one. The fabric and plastic windows on the soft top are in superior condition. The hardtop is in excellent condition. The original white painted Mercedes Benz hubcaps are in good condition. The taillamp and headlamp lenses are all clear and bright. The body of this SL has NEVER been in an accident and the exterior is rust free. Also. there are NO scrapes. scars. dents or dings on the body of this car. It is very clear this car has been garaged and protected all of its life. On February 20th. 2014 a major detail was completed and the paint was coated using the Pinnacle Paint System.

Allow me to detail the minor flaws on the exterior of this 450 SL.

1. ONE paint chip on the edge of the driver side door. This has been professionally touched up.

2. ONE dent on the top of the rear aluminum bumper trim piece.

3. TWO small dings on the top of the front aluminum bumper trim piece. (Front and rear aluminum bumper trim caps are readily available via any classic SL supplier. )

4. Minor scratches on the driver and passenger glass.

5. Hard top glass has minor clouding around the very outside edge.

6. ONE chip on the front right painted hubcap. This has been professionally touched up.

7. The rubber kick plate sill covers inside each door are stained.

The interior of this car is absolutely amazing! The parchment MB Tex seats are in perfect condition. with zero signs of wear. There are no tears and no wrinkles on either one of them. The cushions in both seats sit like new and are very supportive with no 'sinking' or 'caving'. The door panels are in perfect condition. The carpet is flawless. and very clean. The gauges are in amazing condition. The steering wheel and steering column are like new. The seat belts are in excellent condition. The rubber trim pieces around the dash. rear deck and center console are in good condition. The chrome seat trim pieces are all intact and in excellent condition. The original BECKER AM/FM radio unit is in superior condition. The trunk carpet is in good condition and is equipped with a new rubber floor liner.

The interior flaws are as follows.

1. The sunvisors are weak and wrinkled. Any of you that are familiar with the R107 SL's. know this is a very common problem. Many people replace them. Others remove them.

2. The dashboard is cracked in two places on the top closest to the windshield. Yet. another common problem with this model. Veneer dashboard covers are available to rectify this problem.

In 2008. this 450 SL was sent to a restoration specialist in Atlanta. Georgia. There it underwent a minor restoration. The car was stripped and painted in its original color. A new soft top was installed. New chrome components were installed. New bumper rubber components were installed. A new Mercedes Benz windshield was installed. New rubber seals and gaskets were installed. New windshield wiper arms were installed. New seats and carpet were installed. New chrome seat trim pieces were installed. This. along with other minor line items detailed on the receipt. The entire bill totaled $18. 00. 00. This documentation will be provided to the winning bidder.

Mechanically and electronically. this 450 SL is solid as a rock. The mileage (very low for a 37. 5 year old automobile) on the odometer is correct and accurate. To say this car has been 'properly serviced and maintained' is an understatement! It has had the best of care. by the best of mechanics. nbsp;throughout the years. She fires up. sounds strong and runs very strong. This model had an old-school electronic fuel injection. When it is cold. it helps to press the accelerator a bit when starting her up. The steering is as tight as it should be. The transmission shifts smoothly. and when it is suppose to. The braking system is solid. New brakes and rotors were installed five months. The 14 inch Michelin tires are in excellent condition. with no signs of wear. They have less than 1. 00 miles on them. The exhaust system was replaced one year ago. The muffler and exhaust pipes still have a shiny fresh silver look to them. The belts and timing chain all sound good. All interior / exterior light bulbs glow as they should. The power antenna raises and lowers properly. The garage floor where this SL stays parked is free of any fluid droppings. No leaks are visible. The temperature of the engine maintains a steady and even number and never runs hot. The gauges work properly. The heat and defroster work properly. The power windows function properly. The air conditioner does not function. Another typical issue with the R107 SL's. Even when functioning properly in these cars. the air does not blow 'cold'. It blows 'cool'. 'Ice cold' air conditioning was not high on the priority list with classic European automobile manufacturers. The original BECKER AM/FM radio operates as it should. and it sounds excellent.

Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding this 450 SL. I welcome any inspections! I do not think the condition of this car will disappoint anyone. Be guaranteed this is one of the finest 1976 450 SL's on the road! I am a new 'EBAYER' and attempted to be as detailed and descriptive as possible. This automobile is not perfect. However. it is in AMAZING condition with very few flaws! Please note. After the initial bid price has been met. there will not be a reserve price to be met.
