1951 Pontiac Streamliner Woodie Wagon.   Straight Eight engine / large displacement option. Also known as a Tin Woody in this era.
  *DECALS ARE REMOVABLE FABRIC TYPE*
The car is all steel construction with woodgrain outside (3M Dynoc) and ash wood door caps and posts inside (original finish).   Lovely original condition with beautiful patina. Palmetto Green paint that was refurbished up to the beltline and is original on hood. top and cowl.   It has all the surviving wood grain. having had only minor touch ups to the rear lower corners.   I have purchased new 3M Dynoc woodgrain to redo it. plus real mahogany veneers for the flat surfaces. I also have 2 fender skirts in grey primer.

I got the car originally to promote my business and it has been a literal crowd stopper.   Everyone notices and comments on the car.   Pontiac wagons of the era are rare and sought after. so this will make a fine addition to any collection or business.   I really do not want to sell it. but I need business capital plain and simple.

The interior is completely original except for the front seat facings having been recovered (not the frame or surround).   The original coated cloth fabric on the seats. headline and door panels is very nice original throughout. Aftermarket rubber mats were added to the floor that cover the originals. In the middle seat area. and the front mat was replaced many years ago.   The brown ribbed flooring in the cargo area is original.   The center and rear seats are removable for hauling with simple wing bolts under the cushions.   There is some thinning and corrosion in in a few areas in the floor boards that rubber mats typically cause from trapping moisture.   Its an easy fix.   Other than that. the car has no rust other that some surface stuff on the rear gate channel/jamb area.   Simple repair with acid treatment and primer.   That part doesn't show unless the gate is down.

Dash and gauges are original and everything works.   I removed the radio for repairs (needs an output transformer). Dash paint is original with beautiful patina.

The car starts right up and drives wonderfully. I have put about 9. 00 miles on it and it runs great.   No smoke. The engine has never been out. and I cleaned and painted it in place.   I removed the exhaust/intake manifold and had it resurfaced and put new gaskets.   I also have an entire new gasket set for the engine.   The Hydromatic 4spd transmission shifts flawlessly.   The tires are Coker white wall radials and have good tread. Spare is original bias ply.
The work that's been done to the car:
new U-joints. front and rear(air/adjustable) shocks.   Rear wheel bearing. and I have the other one to go with the car. or I can do it for the buyer. New generator belt. New exhaust system all the way back.   New complete brakes throughout with all new cylinders. hardware. etc.   Re-cored radiator. new water pump. fuel pump and rebuilt carburetor.   New outer tie rod ends. Re-chromed front grill. New Indian head grill emblem and new light up Indian head hood ornament.
The "Straight Eight" emblems were shortened due to the door catch/struts being removed.   I have one long emblem to go with the car.

**OTHER WHEEL BEARING IS BEING REPLACED TODAY. These were actually a sealed type bearing rather that lubricated by the axle. so after 63 years I decided they needed replacement.   I will do the rear differential seal and fluid change. plus engine oil change and a fresh tune up.

The car has never been in an accident and the doors all shut nice.   Windows operate with ease.

The car was purchased new in Belingham. WA.   The man owned the car there locally and used it sparingly over the years until trading it in on a new Pontiac some 58 years later.   The dealership decided to keep it for a display vehicle and had an old mechanic who had serviced the car for many years. begin mechanical maintenance on it. Soon after. GM closed the Pontiac division and the dealership liquidated everything.   The car changed hands and some cosmetics were completed below the belt line and it was sold to a private Pontiac collection in Longview. TX.   That collection was pared down in late April or 2013 and I ended up with the car.
I will be extremely sad to see it go if it brings the price it's worth.   If not. I will keep it.   Woodies and Tin Woodies and highly desirable and rapidly increasing in value.   The nice thing about the all steal cars is that they are maintenance free and much less costly to restore.   Speaking of which. I have a restoration shop on the side and would be happy to contract the wood grain restoration for the new buyer for an extra charge.

Fly in and drive it home.   It's road ready and reliable!
I will listen to reasonable offers and possible part trades.   Ask for additional photos if you like and questions can be answered by calling Mark at (719) 242-1467
