Rolls Royce of America and Brewster were struggling to survive. With production ended. they had only the remaining inventory of Phantom 1's and imported Phantom II's to sell. Remarkably. forty of the left-over Springfield Phantom I's were sold to owners in 1932 but at much reduced prices. In 1931 Darby completed the first of a series of left hand drive Phantom II's. whose chassis numbers were followed by the series letters AJS and AMS the A standing for American.
Derby had anticipated building 200 left hand drive chassis. but there weren't customers for that quantity. A total of 125 of these cars were dispatched from 1931 to 1934: 116 went to the USA. 3 to Canada and 6 to Europe.
The car is in very original condition. but in good order. The car is finished with black exterior paint with the leather front seats and tan cloth rear seats. With a driver's glass partition and many personal extras. it makes the car quite unique. As seen in Rolls Royce in America book by John Webb De Campi
UK registered with a current MOT
