Introduced to the public in Spring of 1971. the all new Mercedes-Benz SL or code name R107 became available as a personal luxury sports car. Nicknamed de Panzerwagen “Armored Car” for weighing in at more than 3. 00 pounds. the new SL for model year 1972 was a completely new body. with new luxury and safety refinements. A completely redesigned engine was housed underneath the hood. a 4. 5 liter SOHC V8 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. 1981 saw the launch of the 380SL which introduced a 3. 8 litre V8 aluminum engine that was lighter and more efficient but still retaining the similar V8 performance that the previous 450SL had. With more refinements and comfort the 380SL continued the R107 tradition of fast luxurious sports cars with either top down or top up motoring.

European Motor Studio is proud to offer this exceptional 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL finished in Champagne Metallic over Palamino with a dark brown soft top. This SL left the Mercedes-Benz production line in July of 1984 and invoiced to Mercedes-Benz North America. The car was then shipped to Walters Auto Sales and Service Mercedes-Benz in Riverside California where it sold to its first owner on August 17. 1984. This 380SL has lived an incredibly pampered life always garaged kept and serviced religiously at the Mercedes-Benz dealership in southern California its entire life. The car comes with every single receipt. sales documents. window sticker. pre delivery inspection. complete service receipts dating back to 1984. and all of its smog certificates. This SL was sold to the second owner. who was the son of the first owner. in the late 90’s and has been in his ownership ever since. The car has been a Southern California car since brand new until European Motor Studio brought the car to AZ. The Champagne paint on the car is all 100% original and in stunning condition. The metallic finish still has an exceptional shine to it and has never had a single bit of paint work. There are a couple tiny stone chips in the front end of the car and one small one inch scrape on the front wheel arch which has been touched up and hardly visible. The exterior chrome is in beautiful shape with very small imperfections. all of the rubber is in excellent condition and still has a dark black finish free from any damage or fade. The interior of the car almost showroom condition and shows absolutely stunning. The Palomino seats look new. the dash top is original. not a dash cover. and looks brand new. the wood trim still has a dark red/brown finish and does not have one crack in the finish.   All of the plastics and switchgear look new and free from any damage. all of the carpeting in the car is completely original and still shows very well. The soft top is the original factory top and still in outstanding condition and free from any cracking tearing or yellowing on the plastic windows. The hard top is original and still in like new condition. free from any damage or issues. The electronics on the car are all in working order. the AC is ice cold. the heater is working. all of the lights. are in working order as are the windows. mirror. cruise control. door locks and all of the other items. The only thing that is not working on the car is the power antenna. The motor works but the antena mast will not extend. Mechanically the car is exceptional. every single thing the car has needed it has received. It starts right up. does not smoke and idles beautifully. It accelerates flawlessly and is free from any hesitation. The transmission shifts very well. it does not clunk or grind. the suspension is incredibly tight and free from any squeaks or rattles. The steering on this SL is very precise and free from any drifting. wondering or shaking. The brakes on the car have about 70% pad life left and show no signs of pulsating or fade. The car has just been serviced by Mercedes-Benz and has had its coolant and brake fluid flushed. The tires on the car have about 40% tread life left and show no cracking. The car comes with all 4 Mercedes- Benz Huf keys. original owners manuals. warranty books and service books. The original Becker radio is still intact along with the Becker guide. Becker instructional cassette and Becker cleaning cloth in its original bag. The original factory tool kit in its original red Mercedes-Benz bag. still with its original Mercedes-Benz plastic 380SL bag and original road flare and Mercedes-Benz first aid kit. The spare tire is still sitting on the original tire. the original instructional card for the spare is still attached and the original jack is present with the car.
