MORRIS MINI COOPER Mk-2 1969.
A Lovely Rare Genuine Mini Cooper up for auction !
In the desirable original colour scheme of Snowberry White with a Black Roof.   Lovely unmarked new trim with Black interior with Black carpets.      Date of Registration April 1969 purchased from Morris Garages of Aylesbury.     This Cooper comes with its own Heritage Certificate.     The chassis & engine number are verified and recorded as a Genuine Morris Mini Cooper. unlike the many 'rogue' Coopers offered around.     Of course the Cooper is road tax exempt qualifying for the Historic Vehicle tax band.
This car underwent a very extensive renovation which was completed seven years ago by the previous owner who purchased the car in February 2002. The owner before that was a lady for Bicester who owned the vehicle since 1998.  To date there has been 9 previous owners in nearly 45 years !     The complete body strip down renovation included many parts too numerous to mention. including complete re-trim. rewire. new rubbers. suspension & subframes overhaul. new brakes. engine checked out and de-coked etc.      The body was taken back to the bare metal prior to priming. re-spraying and rust proofing.
The Cooper has had very little use since then. only covering just 1. 00 miles since I've became the proud owner in 2006.     The recorded mileage is currently 69666 miles & although I can't verify the mileage . it seems to be genuine.   The car is completely original with the exception of upgraded Mini Cooper S front discs brakes with a Cooper S servo.     It also has the advantage of all-round first rate Spax Adjustable Coil Over Shock Absorber Suspension against the old unreliable hydrolastic suspension.     In the seven years that I've owned this Cooper I've replaced many parts to enhance the car whilst trying to keep in sight of the original spec.      In fact I've got bills for parts mainly that total over £4. 00 during the last eight to nine years & that's not including any general MOT's or service items.
MANY PARTS REPLACED SINCE MY OWNERSHIP INCLUDE
New 1 ¼” Twin S. U Carburettor's.   Five new proper original Minilite wheels and new tyres.     Large high capacity battery. this battery is designed to fit properly in the battery carrier without moving.      Period battery cover and straps. brackets etc. along with a period New Tool roll from Newton trim.     It's had new Wood and Picket stainless steel front & rear bumpers with over riders fitted along with new wiper arms and blades.     It has a nice period radio which quite frankly doesn't work that well. I couldn't bring myself to cut in to the H. T leads etc to fit the suppressors to make the radio function properly.      More recently I've installed upgraded headlights to improve night driving. you can actually see where you are going. (Although I've still have the old standard headlights in case you would like to convert the car back to the originals).     With that lighting success I also installed a new high quality stainless grill incorporating twin spot lights. just to enhance the night driving. (Again I still have the original grill if you wish to return the car back to original spec).     It's also fitted with a lovely original Minolta wooden sports steering wheel from the period of the car.   The Cooper underwent another complete professional paint re-spray just over 18 months ago along with replacement door skins.     Although the original paint work was good. I wasn't entirely happy with it and decided to go the whole hog and get it done again.   As you can see from the photographs it is a really nice professional quality paint job now.     I've got many more photographs of the Cooper. some covering the earlier full restoration. I can forward more photographs via e-mail if required.
This Cooper is a very usable everyday Classic that always gets admired and draws attention wherever you go in it.      The original 998cc engine pulls well and the gear change is clean with no excessive vibration. noises. lutch slip or other issues.   The steering & brakes are sound & all in all it's a great drive for a car approaching 45 years old.     It has always been housed in a secure. warm garage since I've owned it.      It had a fresh new MOT last September.     This is a very reluctant sale of this lovely little car & I'm only letting it go to help finance a potential house purchase.     I have a box of useful spares (including the original windscreen washer bottle) along with an original factory workshop manual & hand books etc. which I'm happy to donate  to the successful bidder.     In recent years the Mk-2 Coopers have really picked up in demand & you can buy with the confidence that the value of this Cooper will continue to rise.      I'm in real no hurry to let the car go and I've set a suitable reserve which reflects the condition and quaility for this type of lovely little early Cooper.
Please don't ask for a ‘Buy it now price' or what is the reserve. as your request will be largely ignored.   I would like to let the auction run its full length to be fair to any of the other bidders.     I do recommend that you come & view the Cooper before you bid & I'll only be too happy to try & arrange a suitable time.
PLEASE NO BIDDERS FROM OUTSIDE THE U. K.
PLEASE NO BIDDERS WITH EITHER LOW OR LESS THAN 100% POSITIVE FEED BACK UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME FIRST.
THE SUCCESSFUL BIDDER WILL DEPOSIT £500. 00 VIA PAY PAL WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE AUCTIONS COMPLETION WITH CASH ON COLLECTION OR FUNDS CLEARED VIA CHEQUE OR BANK TRANSFER.
