1929 Plymouth model 'U' four door sedan.

"Chrysler corporation introduced the Plymouth in 1928 as a staid. inexpensive family car to take on America's best sellers: Ford and Chevrolet. Six months after the Ford model 'A' was introduced the first Plymouth(model 'Q') was introduced. amid a good deal of hoopla. with dealers dressed up as pilgrims and Amelia Earhart sharing a platform with the Plymouth at New York's Madison Square Garden. The car used a redesigned 4 cylinder engine from the Chrysler 52. It featured four wheel hydraulic brakes. full pressure lubrication. aluminium alloy pistons and an independent handbrake that made for a complete package that would not be offered by Ford or Chevrolet for another decade. This delightful 1929 Plymouth model 'U' is in lovely condition all round and starts. runs and drives very well. It has recently had a new 6 volt battery. new fuel pump and the dynamo has been fully reconditioned. The car is totally solid everywhere. the wheels. hitewall tyres and brakes are all very good. Over the last few years the interior has been reupholstered. including new headlining. and is still in almost perfect condition. This is a very useable vintage American with a gutsy four cylinder engine. and a very interesting alternative to the ubiquitous Ford Model A.
