Back ground to the car

The car started life as a humble 1981 1800 rubber bumper roadster  before undergoing conversion to V8

The last keeper of some 9 years purchased the car from renowned MGB Specialists Croydon Classics  in March 2004. with a view of using the car on a regular basis . ince then the owner has spent over £11000 on the car !

A log of what has been done over that period along with supporting invoices are in the history file . ut just to mention some work carried out :

November 2004 Gearbox and engine overhaul   . ull suspension rebuild and braking system overhaul

February 2006: Major bodywork restoration by MG Motoring London

April 2011: rear axle rebuild

The specification of the car is as follows:

The engine :3. 5 SD1unit fitted with Mallory Distributor . tainless steel tubular Exhaust Manifolds. /span>

Kenlowe Radiator fan

Also a very novel modification “the engine is running a twin choke Weber 38 DGAS . HIS MAKES THE ENGINE ALMOST TURBINE SMOOTH!

Gearbox:

The car with an LT77 . speed Gearbox .

Uprated 3. 9 rear differential

Exhaust:

Stainless steel

Brakes

Uprated

Suspension :

Spax Gas adjustable Telescopic shock absorber conversion al round with uprated springs

Wheels:

6x14 light alloy wheels (including spare ) fitted with 185/70/14 tyres

Fuel Tank :

Stainless Steel.

Bodywork :

As mentioned above the car was subject major bodywork  in 2006 this is  cataloged  and a detailed invoice along with photographs showing work being carried out .

The car has also been fitted with leather seating

Security:

Road Angel. /span>

The car has an electronic key fob immobiliser fitted

Overall condition of the car :  as usual I will try and be as critical as I can ( please read my feedback on other classic cars sold)

Condition of the vehicle today ?

Excellent!

The ownership provenance of this vehicle speak for itself  . /span>

The invoices show that the last keeper did not have a problem spending money as and when required on her!

The bodywork in 2013 is still very good . he seams strips on the top of the wings are good . ” & B” Slam panels. nner outer sills . astle rails. he door shut lines to the sills is excellent . nner wings both back and front very good . ikewise the outer panelling . here is a couple of little surface blisters. nd a little indentation on the very edge of the bonnet by the badge. ut I am being as critical as I can” certainly not something that warrants attention !

Paintwork :

The car is carrying a very good shine with good depth in the colour

The interior was worm in just right. carrying just the right amount of patina in the leather . alnut  fitment's  likewise the door cards. crash pad . nd carpeting.

The hood is water tight . nd the rear screen is clear . he frame is excellent

Mechanically the car drives very well . /span>

The engine is very quiet with no hydraulic tappet issues . n fact I have to say this is one of the smoothest v8's I have ever driven “ the oil pressure is good . on a recent 140 mile trip. he oil level was the same as from prior to setting off

Gearbox. /span>

The LT77 . SPEED fitted is excellent all synchromesh is good and no baulking when trying to select gears clutch smooth in operation . /span>

Rear Axle :

As mentioned above: the rear differential was rebuilt in 2011

Brakes :

Very Effective ( as I found out when an idiot in a traction engine decided to turn the” Monster “  with no indication. straight across my bows to pull in a layby on the opposite carriageway  ! )

So yes! Pulled up straight and true.

Suspension:

The car as mentioned has Spax gas conversion al-round . he ride is firm but the control and handling is excellent  . firm allowing the car to corner with  with great confidence . /span>

Interior:

Very nice place to be! The leather seats whilst being a long term fitment . ave that lovely patina that suits the car.

Wheels /Tyres

The car is fitted with five light alloy wheels . he spare being unused . /span>

The tyres are in excellent condition. the  front  Avons being a recent replacement.

Electrical :

At the time of writing <all working as per specification.

Anything requiring attention “ Hardly! The only things that I can think deserves mention:

Speedometer (cable) has fits of coming to life then scurrying back to it's stop!

The car is fitted with a JVC cd /tuner but the previous owner lost the front removable  panel. I will en devour to find a replacement for the winning bidder ) he was of the opinion the V8 was the best music to his ears so did not bother replacing !

And that's it”

On the road:

Well the car is very easy to fire up two or three pumps on the throttle to prime the Weber  and she bursts into life . he exhaust system gives the car a wonderful  smooth note with this underlying throb of the v8. nce on the road . ou have that wonderful old world  sounds of whines and rumbles that gives you that sense of occasion “ .

The car is no slouch. more than capable of maintaining  rapid progress on the modern road networks.

It has great turn in and with the all-aluminum rover unit being lighter than the original cast iron four cylinder makes the handle and steering so much better!

Conclusion:

Well' spring” has finally sprung! I can think of no better way than enjoying the ambiance of a lovely spring day than with the roof down on this wonderful old BV8!

It is car that gets plenty of admiring looks and the colour always attracts pleasant comment. If you are looking for a well-engineered V8 then look no further! . t is a car you can use straight away . t's a car that was built with the intention of being used and presents herself very well . ut don't just take my word for it” drop me a mail or give me a call and come along and check her out ! I would be more than pleased to demonstrate her for you!

Many Thanks for looking and all the very best with your bid!

Best Regards

Dave

Please note: the cars I sell are “classic” cars and by nature and age are not of the reliability that is afforded to a modern car (apologies to the classic car enthusiasts for stating the obvious) but with all the best will in the world  whilst I would love then to stay totally reliable. but being old (like myself! )They can breakdown and you should be aware of this. if you have any doubt about classic car ownership or any of these facts kindly refrain from placing a bid on the car.

The car is as usual being sold with “No” Reserve !

Now for the boring bits. I only sell good quality classic cars and describe the cars as accurately as I can and sell with honesty and integrity (please read my feedback) I have had on now 12! occasions individuals being the successful bidders on cars and not fulfilling the auction terms so wasting my time and stopping a genuine person getting the car. nbsp;

I am also sad to say had an individual who decided after winning the car thinking he could try and force me to sell the car for less intimating placing negative feedback!

I would be grateful if you could call Me on: 07970383375 or email before you bid to confirm your intentions are bona fide .

Jazz Blog;

Trip to far ‘almost!

My latest find the Rover V8 Stag was situated in Southern Ireland. o I decided to see whether it was possible to plan the journey to collect in  a day!

So with all arrangements made off I went “

Flight 8am from Birmingham to Dublin landed 15 mins early “ bus from airport to Heuston Railway Station (this took longer than the time the plane was in the air!. 0:15 train to Kilkenny arriving at 11:40 . ick up the Stag . eave Kilkenny at 12:15 . 5 mile dash back to Dublin to board the 14:20 fast ferry to Holyhead Anglesey . rriving 16:30 . 56 mile trip back to Hereford. /span>

Did I manage to complete the journey? Just!

If it was not for Ryan air flight being 15 mins early . he train arriving on time  after being delayed at Dublin . nd the Stag not missing a beat whilst making rapid transfer to Dublin. t definitely would have been a night extra in Dublin stranded in the Temple Bar. ell' I never thought of that !! lol
