1969 Dodge Charger Daytona for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 760 votes
This is my '69 Dodge Charger Daytona. I won't get flamboyant with this ad. If you're looking for a Daytona. you should pretty much know the NASCAR history behind the creation of this vehicle and what you're looking at.

Ok. maybe I will.

The 1969 DOdge Charger Daytona is. to some. the Creme dela Creame of Mopar ownership. Ok. maybe it is tied with the '71 Hemi Cuda. ;-)

As most know. these where purposed built cars. to satisfy NASCAR rules on homologation of factory cars eligible to run the Grand National Circuit ( now call Sprint Cup ). The motors were maxed out per rules. so the cars had to be more aerodynamic ( cheating the wind ). Dodge's first crack at this was the '69 Charger 500. It made good strides. but just wasn't fast enough. Sorry Charger 500 owners. I feel your pain. I own one of those too. So. the engineers at Chrysler went to work and developed. the now legendary. 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona with its imfamous wing and weird looking nose. But boy. did it work !!!!!  So much so the King. Richard Petty. nbsp; wanted to come back to MaMopar. Problem there was Plymouth laid claims to him ( hence the birth of the 1970 Plymouth Superbird ). The winged warriors worked SO good. NASCAR changed the rules for the '71 season to make things more fair for the other automakers. Was there someone whining in '70. "We can't beat those guys".

This Daytona is a former magazine feature in Mopar Muscle and the British "Street Machines & American Car World" and most recently in Motor Trend Classic's Fall 2011 "Aero Dynamic".

- V2 hemi orange
- black interior auto console
- 440 4bbl 727 auto (not original block or tranny)
- A32 Super High Performance axle pkg. 4:10 Dana

This is a real solid car which has all it's original sheetmetal. including the hood. trunk. nose. floor pans. rear valance. etc. Those are typical panels which often need replacement. You will be hard pressed to find a car like this. Its exhaust is a complete aluminized system and in great shape. The 440 is rebuilt to pretty much stock OEM specs and the transmission shifts great. The front power disc brakes work great and the front-end is in great shape. the Daytona tracks beautifully. The 4618 carb was rebuilt by renowned Harm's Auto and works perfectly. This is a "get-in-it-and-go" car. For driveability. I did add the GearVendor overdrive system and it is awesome. I wanted to leave the original 4. 10 Dana intact. So. this car has the best of both worlds. responsive and quick acceleration of a 4. 10 and the cruising characteristics of a 3. 23 down the highway. I also replaced the points with a Pertronix Ignitor II system. It as well works great. Since I live in Houston. I wanted additional cooling capability. so I installed a pusher fan. Being that it is underneath the latch tray. it is completely hidden. The switches for the overdrive and fan are strategically placed for ease of use and no visual impact. I have gone to great lengths to try and detail the car out as close to OEM as possible. One example is the ribbon sealer that Creative Industries put at the seam between the front window rubber seal and the wind deflectors.

As you can see from the pictures. the interior is in great shape. I recently restored the complete dash assembly and converted the amp gauge to the volt-conversion process (but I did made sure the silkscreen of the gauge was OEM (amp gauge). I did this for safety since the amp gauge on a Mopar is a very weak link to electrical situations. The functionality and appearance are OEM. The carpet was as well recently replaced with ECS carpet. It is a top-of-the-line carpet that is shipped flat and fits like a glove.
This is a real solid car and the only reason I'm looking to sell is I've found a Daytona that's closer to my father's former car he had new when I was my daughter's age now. The tires and wheel are new. she drives very comfortably. The 15x8 Magnum 500's are the wheels that go with the car.

If you have any questions. feel free to contact me via phone or email. If it weren't for the fact I found a Daytona closer to the one my Father bought new back in 1969. this car wouldn't be going anywhere.
Oh yeah. I forgot to mention. along with the original them-there fender tag. I have the original broadcast sheet too.
