We have limited history on the car. as we are not the original builder. what we do know is described in the additional information. Jim Kellison and Kellison related car manufactures history is well documented with many internet sites devoted to the variety of cars he inspired. We suggest you review these sites to better understand exactly what we are offering compared to previous private and auction house sales of similar vehicles.

Being offered at this time is an original 1960's built Kellison Sports Car. Model J-5. Constructed from a variety of parts as recommended by the manufacturer and previous owners personal preferences. it incorporates not only 1960's parts but the mechanical technology and workmanship of that period. This is a running. drivable. unrestored 60's sports car with many new or rebuilt parts. Updated over the years (for safety reasons) it is now equipped to meet most State Motor Vehicle Department requirements for street use. Even with these updates. it still is very much a period correct Kellison Spots Car. with the looks. handling. braking. performance and sound of the 1960's. It is currently titled by the State of Pennsylvania as a 1964 Kellison Coupe (not titled as a kit car) It is not currently registered or insured for use on public roads.

The Kellison J-5 body sits on a factory frame. The body has been modified with a custom flat tail section and a tilt front end. the car is 9” shorter then stock. Improvements over the previous model include 5” longer doors and a 2” higher roof line . A custom tube grill fills the nose opening. Body and paint is still very presentable.

Originally powered by a 327 Chevy engine and a standard transmission. it now has a 1977 Chevy. 305ci with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. The engine is equipped with an “Edelbrock” tri power intake “Rochester” carbs. “Edelbrock” valve covers. a “Mallory” dual-point distributor and coil. headers with 3” diameter side pipes and lots of chrome dress-up accessories. Shifting is handled by a “B&M” shifter. The rear end consists of a 1957-60 Chevy Corvette section with 3:36 non-posie gears. The front suspension is 1949-54 Chevy passenger car. (similar to early Corvette). Steering column is early Corvette. connected to a later model power steering box. All brakes are original factory drum units (with new pads) and an updated new master cylinder. Tube style shocks are new. Cooling is handled by a mechanical fan. and custom radiator. Wheels look like early “American” 15” aluminum mags that have had the spokes semi polished. tires are new “Goodrich” radials.

The interior is basic 1960's with both street and racing accessories; the dashboard consists of 10 early “Stewart Warner” gauges and a custom wood steering wheel. An aluminum center console houses the following:  7 external fuses. electric radio antenna switch. cigarette lighter. ignition switch. wipers switch. left and right electric door opening solenoids buttons and left and right electric door window opener switches. Other features include. emergency battery disconnect switch. an AM/FM cassette radio with twin speakers. working directionals. horns. high and low beam headlights. and running lights. The floors. door panels. rear deck and head liner are covered with simple auto carpet. Seats are fiberglass racing buckets with “Simpson” safety harnesses and a full roll bar. An emergency handbrake is next to the shifter. Windshield is glass. quarter windows and rear window are Plexiglas. and there is currently no door glass. Both door panels have electric door opening solenoid buttons plus mechanical openers in case of battery failure. There are no door handles or electric window motors (See additional information for details)

Originally built with basic automotive engineering principles. how to repair and tune information can be found in any old “Motors Manual”. All components are easily accessible and can be worked on or tuned up with common automotive tools. Mechanical and electrical parts can still be purchased at your local auto parts store or obtained world wide through the internet at reasonable prices. Everything is already cleaned. painted or polished. You can update it either mechanically or cosmetically to suit your own personal taste or just use it “as built”.
