For sixty years. over a million Land Cruisers have traversed paths from the South Pole to the Sahara. Now it's your turn.

It's widely reported that only about three hundred FJ40‘s were imported to the USA in 1983. These were the last FJ40's sent to the US. Of those 300. it's estimated that 50 or so had factory power steering and air conditioning. Of those 50. a few had wing windows which normally would have been reserved for non-USA trucks. The legend goes that as US shipments were winding down. Toyota was pulling whatever parts were available to build the last FJ40's bound for US soil. This is one of those trucks with all of the aforementioned attributes.

This beautiful rust free 1983 FJ40 had a restoration in 2009-2010 and is in excellent condition. It includes factory A/C and power steering. the original 2F 6-cylinder with all emissions intact. I've owned her since 2008 and I have history on her dating back to the 90's. I have pictures of her before and during the restoration. She was very original and in excellent shape. She retains her original engine. drive-train. original upholstery. mats. factory correct wheels. owners manual. toolkit. inspection light. door straps. and is 99% stock. There is an aftermarket AM/FM/CD and speakers in the doors. The goal was to renovate using OEM parts and retaining her classic stock charm. The original 2F six cylinder underwent a total rebuild in 2002. The motor is strong and the truck has been maintained by Toyota of Des Moines where the service department predictably stops what they're doing to gather round every time I bring her in. The truck will be gone over with a fresh oil change and all levels checked at the dealership prior to shipping.

During renovation. the truck was professionally repainted the original Toyota Freeborn Red (paint code 309) by Custom shop using PPG single stage on the exterior and portions of the interior. We installed a new bumper. signal lamps. emblems. hood hooks. door handles. weatherstripping. headliner and several parts were powder coated. The A/C compressor and other components were replaced and the existing radiator was rebuilt.

The truck's original 4-speed manual transmission includes the quieter and more refined 3. 70 helical cut gears. and a stock transfer case to serve up an awesome combination of on-road handling and off-road prowess. Toyota factory power steering makes driving this FJ40 effortless. Front disc and rear drum brake combination will bring all you to a quick and uneventful stop. She is equipped with the Aisin free wheeling hubs. All turn signals. lights. wipers. washers. taillights. backup lights. license plate lights. side markers and all gauges work. The tires at BFG Trail T/A's with the exception of the spare which is the original Dunlop Snow Cruiser that she shipped with.

The truck is rust free. She was treated with Ziebart rustproofing when new as evidenced by the several rubber plugs throughout the doorjambs. doors and rockers. There are no dents. dings or damage to the body and several of the factory spot welds are still visible. The interior is clean and original and virtually flawless.

The quality of this prestigious FJ40 is extreme and it's value as the most sought after FJ40 Toyota ever produced is well established. Simply put. this is an excellent investment you can enjoy every day while her value continues to grow.

This is one very cool SUV that's still every bit as functional today as it was in when it drove off the showroom floor. It's very tight. rattle free and is quite and capable. It's would be right at home parked at your favorite Friday night dive next to other vintage cars. or perched on a mountain conquering your latest Saturday afternoon adventure.
