Austin Seven Ruby Sliding Head Saloon.

Fast approaching its 80th birthday. this charming " Ruby " is a wonderful opportunity to enter the fascinating ownership of one of Great Britain's special achievements. the Austin Seven. This particular car was purchased by the previous owner ( a Senior Bank Official ) back in 1988. the car was very original but in desperate need of some love and attention. There is a photographic record of the before and after the works were completed. The restoration works were entrusted to Tim Walker Restorations Ltd of Aylesbury. www. timwalkerrestoration. co. uk . Over a period of time the works included a very comprehensive restoration. records indicate a total of £16836. 40 were spent with the car being completed in 1996. a letter from Tim dated the 2nd of February 1996 states that. " The little car is now ready for you to drive ". Briefly. the restoration included the body back to a shell. welding as required. axels. removed and overhauled. retaining the cable brakes. Gearbox checked. Engine stripped and fully rebuilt. re-trimmed completely in Pine Green Leather. New Headlining. Quality Carpets. various electrical components re-built or exchanged. re-chromed Bumpers and Bumper Ends. Road Wheels Sandblasted and painted with Red Oxide before being re-finished in Gloss Black Paint and being fitted with the correct 4-50 x 17" Avon Tyres. the Spare is new and un-used. I think by now you get the picture. a professionally restored and sorted " Ruby ". Since the restoration the " Ruby " has been garaged and used very sparingly but continued to be maintained professionally. This " Ruby " is a car for the purist as unusually the car retains its original Glass Lenses to both the Chrome Headlights and the Chrome Side lights which still have there " St. hristopher " emblems. The " Ruby " also has its correct Glass with the " Triplex " markings. The Sunroof also works perfectly as does the opening front windscreen. Other original features include the Rubber Running Boards. although cracked they still have the embossed crest. original registration number and Cast Number Plates . Finished in light Grey with Black Wings and the stunning Pine Green Leather the " Ruby " is sure to delight its new owner. The car will require some re-furbishment before being pressed into use. there are some age related chips and scratches which have been touched in over the years. front wings have some cracks and there is a little corrosion at the wing to door opening. The underside is spotless. the car drives very well. starts easily with excellent instant oil pressure and water cooling. I have been in touch with the owner of Tim Walker Restorations whom has confirmed he would be delighted to collect the "Ruby" from me and perform whatever works the new owner requires and then deliver the car to its new home. The Ruby does not have an M. O. T . although not required now you may prefer to instruct an M. O. T to ensure of the roadworthiness of the car. This is a genuine disposal sale and the reserve has been set at a very modest level to allow some competative bidding. great fun.
