Ford Escort Mk2 2 Door Coupe. Rare Early 1976 Shell & Auto Tunnel

Regretfully selling this Mk2 coupe.   It's an early shell with the side tank. large strut tops. ford letting on boot and round headlight grill.

This is also an auto shell that has the large tunnel for a type 9 gearbox if you wish – the perfect shell to use for building a fast road escort or rally car.

Starts. runs. stops (just) so OK for transporting.   For AUs bidders interstate – CEVA car carrying has great rates.   For UK bidders. it would cost about $3. 00 to get the car from my house to Southampton or Newcastle docks.   I can help with this for you too.

I'll try and describe everything as accurate as I can…

BODY
This is a very solid shell.   I've earned from many projects before to start from as solid a base as you can!  Other. cheaper shells I have purchased in the past have cost far more by the time all the body repairs have been done. and still end up not as solid.  

The sills. floor. door pillars are all near enough perfect.   All the usual spots are showing a bit of surface rust. but is a lot better than most escorts you see. The boot floor is very solid as you can see from the pictures.

There is a small spot on the bulkhead. a bit under one of the front wings and the rear wheel well would need repair as it's not great.   I'd replace the bonnet if I was keeping it as it has a dent that would be cheaper/easier to get a new bonnet.

The roof has some surface rust from being stored under a car port. but it's not deep rust and would be removed with a scotch pad on the sander.   The bottom of one of the doors has a bit of rust too. but it's a pretty easy fix – again.

INTERIOR
The dash top is 100% original and perfect!  No cracks. chips! Very rare to find them like this and a good indication that the car has been stored undercover most of it's life.

Front seats are no good and the carpet is beyond saving too.   Roof lining. rear seats are all intact.  Rear window still has original dealer sticker in it too!

ENGINE

Engine is a 1. 3.   It starts and drives. but I'd be taking it no further than up the ramp of a trailer.   The engine doesn't sound flash and would need a rebuild if you're keeping it.
