1988 Toyota Land Cruiser

FOR SALE is my 1988 FJ62 Toyota Land Cruiser. a 4 door SUV.   It has the 3FE. gas motor. Automatic transmission. 4 wheel drive. power windows. power door locks. Air Conditioning and updated AM/FM receiver.   The original paint is grey with original. checked grey interior.   The half. rear cargo door folds down. while the overhead glass folds up for easy cargo loading.

I originally bought the truck in July 2014 with 186. 00 miles. and planned to convert it to original. compatible diesel from gas.   But after evaluating the total costs involved. I considered them excessive and postponed doing the conversion.   I instead decided to improve and make sound the truck and wait a little while longer for the 30 year mark. when the same truck in diesel can be legally imported.   The truck has been mostly kept in a warehouse. treated as a Sunday driver. and been otherwise properly covered if outside.   I have been very careful to maintain its condition and finish. knowing overall condition would affect its eventual sale.   I frankly love the truck. hate to part with it. but want the same one in diesel.   The truck now has 186. 685 miles.   So. you can see I have only driven it 385 miles since purchase. just enough to keep the components limber and properly exercised.

Outside of being in very good to excellent condition in appearance. the most important fact about this truck is that. mechanically. it is in excellent condition. ready to enter service as a dependable. daily driver.   For whoever buys this truck. they can get in. turn the key and start enjoying it from day one.   This is not a project truck; the heavy work has been done by myself and the prior owner. and the tires have about 80 or 90% of their tread left.   Finally. for its vintage. strong> the original interior and upholstery are in excellent condition as well.   For those of you put off by dirty or run-down interiors. you will not be disappointed.   The dash is clean. neat and uncracked. and the carpet is brand new.   The original upholstery itself. while showing some age. shows remarkably well and is clean.   The fact is. it's not your average truck and a one-of-a-kind find.   The following is an overview of the important work done to the truck:

July 2013. Prior Owner. by Urban Land Cruisers. Atlanta. GA:

Engine: New valve cover gasket. PCV and grommet. valve cover seals; clean throttle body. cold start injector and ICS valve; new air filter; head gasket tested. install OEM radiator cap; install OEM thermostat and gaskets.

Electrical: Install Custom Mil Spec cables and OEM battery trey. hold down and posts.

Drive Line: Change filter and flush. adjust kick down and install shifter bushings.

Brakes: New front pads and turning rotors; install all new brake hoses; adjust rear and Emergency brake; flush/bleed and fluid.

Steering: Install OEM relay rods and adjust Power Steering box.

Interior: Installation of Raptor Lining (carpet underlayment) and install new Perfect Molded carpet. along with steam cleaning interior; rework Master window lock; install new window runs on all 4 doors; clean and lube all window door motors; add sound proof each door.

Suspension: Install new bushings. greaseable pins. set shackles. new steering stabilizer. new end link bushings and sway bar bushings.

August 2014. Current Owner. by Lex Tech Automotive. Charleston. SC:

Install Front Knuckle Sweep Kit (Disassemble front axle components. clean and repack birfields. replace seals and knuckle bearings. repack front wheel bearings and change differential fluid); Inspect and evaluate AC for leaks. full recharge; Four wheel alignment; replace new Intermediate Steering shaft and adjust steering gearbox preload; compression test found low compression number 5 cylinder. causing slight burble in idle.

Diagnose idle skip. install new OEM Mass Air Flow Meter; clean throttle body of carbon; set timing in Distributor; adjust valve clearances and replace gasket; check and adjust Throttle Position Sensor; replace front and rear shock absorbers; vacuum test AC system for leaks. none detected; replace AC service port valves. new Freon and AC oil.

The foregoing work has put the truck in ready-to-go condition.   The only known defects to the truck are: the antenna works but does not go all the way down. stopping a couple inches short.   There are minor nicks. road rash to be expected of original paint of its vintage. along with one. short scratch on driver side wheel well.   There is a small indentation on the roof that you would not see. unless pointed out.   There is a very small tear on passenger seat. which you should be able to see in the pictures.
