Classic Mini - Toyota Starlet Engined Turbo
FOR SALE!

Reluctantly i must sell this. my pride and Joy. having taken on a second Mortgage. I have to make space. save money. and well. Cut the slack. Presenting my mini.

Its a 1. 33 toyota starlet powered beast. yes. putting out a whopping 265 bhp. on full load. Currently I'm pootling on 150bhp to save fuel. Pah. anyway you do the maths. that over 350bhp per tonne. yes and there are alot of sports cars that can't say that. For those of a speedy disposition wanting to know what that translates to. here is a recent "Kill list".

Mustang GT500 2005/2007/2008
Porsche 911 carrera Turbo 2003/2005/2006/2008
BMW M5 2005
BMW M3 2007
Audi rs4 2009
Aston Martin DB9/VANQUISH.

You get the picture. its very fast. very lively having only got 13" wheels. but it holds the power rather well.

More Info later. Must go to work. (listing to be completed tonight please come back!. )

On 17-Aug-13 at 01:32:50 BST. seller added the following information:

Anyway. Apologies about that. So Where were we. Ah
A Brief History Lesson.
Built in 1967. this was your bog standard. run of the mill "Home market Super-De-Luxe" Round nose Model. finished in Almond Green with a Pine green and beige interior. And my how they knew how to colour a car back then. Born on the 8th of Feburary 1967. the car was destined for Steels LTD where it was then sold to Dobsons Garage of Malborough the following day. It remained here for just over 6 months until the owner of the garage gave it to his daughter as a present. (and probably to get it off the forecourt) and was first registered on the 6th of September 1967 to Miss K. L Dobson.

It was regularly serviced at the same garage. for near on 16 years where it was part exchanged at the same garage and then sold on to MKJ Gilliam of Malborough in January 1983. then to a Joylon Brooking of Weston-Super Mare in 1997. R Lawrence in 1998. A Mr Frearson of Preston in 1999. Mr Tom Frearson who then owned it for 12 years. and then Mrs Frearson as Tom decided to move abroad and so left it to his mum to have the car in her name if he hadn't already sold it before he left for the Sunshine. and then to me in December 2012. Well it was meant to be the End of the world. so I wanted to have a bit of fun!

Now as you can see. yes I have a pretty accurate history and for any car thats good going. but this is 45 years of history. 45 years of services. MOTs. tyres. receipts. paint jobs you name it. I have 2 folders Full to the brim. with everything from original receipts of purchase. original service books. right through to a heritage certificate and Engine readouts. But I digress. we must move on!!

So where are we now? And How did we get here?
Well its not a mystery to see that Tom Frearson was a man with a plan. He loved his mini so much that he decided to get his hands dirty and work on it. And work he did. From 18 when he got the car doing basic self services. to Engine swaps. from a 998 to a 1275. to a 1380. to the starlet engine MK1 and then to the uprated MK2 version of today. Infact I could go on and on about all of this but I think it'd be easier to just show a big list of things!

Presenting. A big list of things!
Basic Speed Freak Specs.
0-60mph in just shy of 5 seconds (depending on your grip)
top speed limited to 125mph (oil pressure and rev limiter in place)
Various Settings for power between 150bhp and 265bhp depending on size of testicles. and/or brain.
1/4mile time. I was going to take him to Santa Pod but work has been too busy. but estimated between 11-12 seconds.

Outside
Fully removable 2 piece fibreglass Clubman front end
4x Supertrax 13x7 Alloy wheels in Black with polished rims and Medium Semi slick Tyres.
Metro 4 pot Disc Brakes and Mini Fin Drum Brakes on the rear.
One off specially made drive shafts for the Mini-Toyota Hybrid.
Tight Spring Suspension instead of Doughnut Suspension. Fully adjustable.
Gaz adjustable shock absorbers all round
Toyota Starlet 1998 Engine block and Gear Box.
TD04 Turbo. running in line with APEXi AVC-R Unit with a G-Reddy Piggy Back ECU. (To those who don't understand. it means its complicated but computerised)
Glencoe Turbo Dump Valve. nad Apexi Actuator Vale Solenoid. In other words. Bruuuuuummmmmm. Czssssssssshhh!
One off hand built subframe to support the engine with small removable section for Gearbox Servicing.
One of 3" Bore Exhaust system built around the engine and subframe running up along the old gear linkage tunnel. so up into the bodywork. Purrs!
Oil cooler. air cooler and Radiator to keep the car cool. and fast. but more importantly Cool!
Reversed servo to fit inside the engine resides in behind the dashboard.
Air Horns (Self Explanatory)
Custom built Oil Sump to fit into the subframe
mk2 rear light clusters. and Black & Silver plates
NO REVERSE LIGHTS.

Inside.
Inside the Avc-R Controller unit resides for tweaking with the Engine management and for readouts on power and performance.
Boost gauge. Fuel Gauge. Temperature Gauge. Oil Gauge. Speedo. Revo Counter are all after market Racetech parts.
Exposed Gear linkage from a starlet. not to everyones taste. but I like it.
Original mini heater system. THAT WORKS REALLY WELL!
Black carpets with red lining. with underlay carpets for a bit more comfort.
Proper Mini bucket seats in Full Leather. Black with red Piping trim. and custom made rear seat to match. Bit tight on the hips. but stops you sliding around tight corners.
MPI pressured Fuel Tank. with the biggest fuel filter known to man attached to it!

Technology Bits. OOOOOO

A CD Player. with 6" door speakers built in again that works. linked into a 300w amplifier running the 2 6x9 infinity speakers in the parcel shelf. they make a fantastic noise. plenty of bass. so no real need for a sub.
MI600 Immobiliser system
BEE SECURE Universal push button CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM! YES!!!
Sterling Alarm System wired into this too.
Push start system. very subtle. but more fun than turning a key.
Launch Control. Need I say more?

But the lists go on and on. In other words. having done a basic tot up of all that work over 12 years. Mr T spent well over £20. 00 on this car. It was worth every penny he told me. and I can believe it!
Since I've bought it I have done a fair few things to it. Like all minis. they always need tinkering! So lets see.

General services every 6000 miles. with oil changes every 3000 miles including a gearbox oil change 1000 miles ago.
Replacing 5th gear and synchro in the gear box to make things a little tighter and cleaner on the gear changes.
3 pairs of Front tyres. Slicks never last long!
New steering column. new steering wheel and boss.

A few basic bits and bobs. new bolts here. new filters there. but like any car that's 45 years old its not perfect.

Having a fibreglass clubman front means that stone chips do happen. and theres a small handfull of small chips scratches and blemishes. The paintwork was done over 5 years ago. so you may want to look to do a touch up job. I have the paint code in the paperwork. believe its known best as Solar Red. The Clubman grille has one headlight surround in black and one in silver. again just personality. he travels with a black eye. He has no headlining to speak of. I'm tall and standard ones get in the way for me. And. yeah. thats about it.
Having said the downsides. theres some upsides!!
So new MOT and Free TAX for life!
£500 of spare parts. including pipes. exhaust wrap. starlet gearbox. etc.
Full Service and noted history!
A well loved car that really turns heads. and passengers stomachs. Its still very practical. have ahd the missus' little ones in the back. a weeks shopping in the boot. and a giant cuddly toy in there on a day out. so its still as practical as a normal car. ish!
A super mini that has power. performance. or you can just pootle around as a daily runner!

Right. I think thats it. So to sum up and do the nitty gritty and grumpy man talk!

The car is being MOT'd on Tuesday. regardless of any work that needs doing. which will be a cv boot as the rubber has split. a bulb. a indicator lens. and tightening the rear brakes. so I'll be doing most of that on Monday! I don't expect any major issues. as its only done 15. 00 since the engine rebuild in 2007/8.
Due to high interest. I will be letting the auction run. HOWEVER IT IS ADVERTISED ELSEWHERE. so I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
I AM NOT INTERESTED IN SWAPPING. I have 2 mortgages to pay for. I don't need another car!
At the end of the auction I would ask that the winner send me a 10% deposit of the final price via paypal to show you are Genuine. the rest can be cash upon collection or bank transfer. After which I will more than happily discuss Collection/Delivery. Yes I said Delivery. For the price of the petrol and a train journey home I can even Deliver the car to your front door. though again this is only if it is convenient for both parties.

I will be at work during the final hours of the auction so you may not hear from me until early the following morning if you do win. but in the mean time. if you have any questions or queries. please message me. or call or text 07833193501. My names Alex. I don't bite. but I do work alot of hours. So please leave a message on my voicemail if I don't answer and I WILL get back to you.

Good luck to all. and happy bidding!

Hi there, any ideas who this car was sold too?

from Rik McKenzie, dated 01 march 2014
Hey mate.

This is a beautiful machine that I would love to own. 1 problem being that I live in Australia. If you are happy to do some leg work (getting the RAC to send me a full report) then I am keen.

Cheers
Rik
