Frame off restored more than ten years ago. Has aprox. 10k miles since and runs like a champ. Part way through the early 1930's the platform was changed to a 106 inch wheelbase and dubbed the Terraplane. The six-cylinder engine produced 58 horsepower in the early 1930's but after a few years the output was increased to 70. One ad stated 'In the air. it's aeroplaning on the water. its hydroplaning on the ground. hot diggety dog. thats Terraplaning!' The vehicles were fast. durable. and economical. At around $700 in 1930. the Essex was a bargain. Within a few years the price decreased. dropping a couple hundred dollars to a low of about $425. During its production run. the Essex was an affordably priced small car. Essex would eventually become the third largest American automobile manufacturer. They are often credited with starting the trend away from open touring cars that led to the popularity of enclosed passenger compartments. Originally. the Essex automobiles were to be a product of the 'Essex Motor Company. which was a wholly owned entity of Hudson. Essex Motors even went so far as to lease the Studebaker factory in Detroit for production of their own car. By 1922 the Essex Motor Company was dissolved and the Essex officially became a direct product of Hudson. Essex cars were moderately priced and designed to be affordable for the average working fami9ly. Proving their durability. their capabilities were checked upon and confirmed by both AAA and the United States Postal Service. Early Essex cars also captured numerous hill climb records. In a special Essex race car. Glen Shultz won the 1923 Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Vehicle Photos: About Veits Vettes & Collector Cars:

Our cars are specialty cars . collector cars. award winning original automobiles. show stopping restored autos. and newer front row highline cars! We scour the country for those rare gems.

That beautiful Corvette or that shiny '55 Chevy. or that unique '98 Ferrari that makes you just burst with pride. How about that amazing '59 Retractable or the fun '71 Cougar. or the stylish '56 Mark II. or the sporty '80 Trans Am or the prestigious '91 Mercedes?

Yes. we do go to those fancy Auctions in Arizona each winter. But when you sell cars for the lower than usual price that we try to always do. the buying becomes even harder. We also peruse newspapers everywhere we go. It's not at all unusual to drive hours out of our way. to look at 1 car. Sometimes. that drive is really worth it. Small auctions also get our attention. You have to look at a lot of cars. in order to buy even a few. That's a lot of crawling in & under. But that's ok. We're fussy – because our customers expect it of us. They rely on that.

Many of our clients are repeat buyers. They already are lucky enough to have 1 or more "toys" purchased from us. Sometimes they want to add to their collection. sometimes they just want a different one to play with. so they want to trade. Whatever. their reason. we've got the answer. We've got the stock. You can drive ours right off the floor & enjoy a day in the sun or take them to a car show. with pride. Lots of our cars have won trophies for their new owners.

Of course. we get walk-in sellers. Someone has a car they have grown tired of. or perhaps they inherited a car they really don't want. Perhaps they just need the money. If that's a special car - if it's been lovingly cared for. and is either a corvette. a muscle car. a hot rod. a classic. a foreign. or an antique auto - be it convertible. t-top. hard top. coupe or roadster. we're interested.

Our customers come from all walks of life and all parts of the world. Sometimes. a new owner can't physically come to inspect a particular car. That's ok. we'll walk around it & describe it to them. over the telephone - so long as we speak their language. We have a reputation for giving honest information over the phone. when describing our beauties.

We do have some customers that leave disappointed. sometimes a customer wants a 'fixer-upper". Sorry. we simply don't carry those. We don't have those "Winter Projects". The closest we can come. is a gorgeous. drivable. almost flawless car that someone wants to make into a totally flawless show stopper. It will never be allowed to get dusty - not even the engine. Those buyers will feel like they're in a candy store. Our cars may not be of that quality. but they have won trophies.

It is our top priority as former collectors ourselves. to describe all of our vehicles accurately. to the best of our ability. Even though we scrutinize each car before we buy it. we resell cars. we do not restore or warranty them. Therefore we cannot guarantee any of the claims made by previous owners. their agents. or consigners. We recommend that any individual. contemplating purchasing any used car or collector car- from us or anyone else - to either inspect it themselves. or send a trustworthy individual. to verify that it’s description is accurate. If you have trouble locating such an individual. we will be happy to recommend an impartial. unaffiliated individual or firm to assist you .

Okay. you've dreamt about the car you saw here. You can afford it. You can't stand it - you just gotta have it. But now what? You don't want to drive it all the way home. We'll either ship it to you ourselves. or arrange for shipment via a major car shipper. These shippers do nothing else but ship cars - of all prices. They're good. careful & insured. Drivers tell us constantly how cars being delivered. from other sellers. often bring tears of regret. But when they ship OUR cars. the proud new owners are never disappointed!!!! We get many phone calls. from these buyers telling us their joy at the car being just what we said it was.
