Here we have a 1963. nbsp; Yep 50 years old! Lincoln Continental Convertible. These Rare limited production cars are superb to drive and are very solid. They were good enough for Presidents to use and this was the shape that President Kennedy and other presidents used for many years. In fact the one that President Kennedy was killed in was still used for many years after with some alterations. They were popular for there quality and there superb ride and the fact that the convertible had four doors the rear doors being the Front opening or " Suicide Type" made for very easy access.

Less about history more about the car.

I purchased this car in about 2010 with the intention of a full restoration. but to now I have not finished the other 1967 Lincoln that I have in the same colour and trim. Which is a desirable colour combo in these cars.

This vehicle as far as I was told has been of the road for twenty plus years and was stored inside for most of that time. The car had spent most of its life in CA and then Arizona where I purchased it from. The interior has dried out and needs to be retrimmed. a leather kit is avail on eBay USA for around $1200. The wood grain garnishes are also dried out but can be found reasonably easy. Floors have surface rust but very solid as is the underneath of the car which is very dry and clean with no surprises.

The body is really very good with only a small amount of rust shown in one or two very small areas. A couple of dents and obviously the paint is tired out it must have had a skim of a repaint many years ago as it is faded and shows its age. The body is stand out on this car and would be a very easy strip and repaint only minor repairs. This body has been quite well preserved and old bolts and nuts that are normally hard to undo due to rust. come undone easy on this car.

The  4 hub caps are all there and in pretty good shape. and there is a good original spare rim with another spare hub cap in the trunk.  The steering and suspension bushes etc. all looks good and the small distance I drove the car the steering felt nice and tight.  This has the AM FM radio and also has factory air conditioning. These cars have power windows power top folding flipper panel which covers the soft top when it is down and all with one operation. The soft tops can be purchased in the US made up for around $340.  The car has not been played around with and would be a great project  with a stunning result possible. The 430 CI V8 motor runs and it moves forward but it has NO brakes it also has no reverse. This was possibly the reason the car was taken off the road so many years ago. The trans parts are very easy to procure and there are some very good transmission guys around. I would suspect the reverse band has snapped which did happen on these transmission's due to faulty spot welding of the band block. So as I said this car would be considered to be a restoration project. The fuel gauge surround and temp gauge surround is missing but can be procured on eBay .

When I had it running about a month ago the exhaust was very quiet and there were no leaks at the manifold and the usual places that they leak. The fuel system tank and fuel line will need to be cleaned out as the rotten fuel has blocked the fuel line. the speedo shows 24000 miles and judging by the general condition around the car pedals and steering etc. I would say that's about all it has done but this can not be proven.

I have quite a few parts THAT WILL go with this car. I have a lovely large sales brochure and I have a colour picture write up from an automobile magazine on this series of Lincoln.

Other parts Including a NEW windscreen which cost me $900. I also have a NEW hard to get external RH mirror of the correct shape and fit for this car. These and a few of the other parts that are needed on this car are INCLUDED in the auction. I will not disclose the reserve on this car only to say it is low. Also if you email me I will send you more photos. Do your own research as to how rare these are and what you are willing to pay for one that is already here in ADELAIDE. It HAS IMPORT APROVAL DOCUMENT. In My name.

Transport can be arranged for this vehicle at purchasers expense and I can deliver to a local transport yard for a small fee.   John 0418827666  coopersclassiccars. com. au
