1955 Chev Gasser. This is an original vintage straight axle gasser built back in the late 1960's. It was built and raced in the Jacksonville Florida area and was named the "Big Bopper" with a bright pink paint job. This has never been registered as a street car. The car came to Ontario Canada in around 1985 and was raced here on NHRA and IHRA tracks as a bracket car with a mild small block turning mid 12's E. T. Since I purchased the car I have upgraded the brakes to 4 wheel disk. new spindles and steering arms rotors and callipers on all four corners. Wilwood master cyl. and brake pedal. The small block has been replaced with a de-stroked 454 to 427 C. I. with rectangle port heads. 12-5 TRW pistons. 605" lift flat tappet cam and a full race prepped block. Hooker headers. 850 Holley etc. The transmission has been replaced with a fresh Turbo 400 with reverse manual valve body and a 5000 stall TCI convertor. The rear end is a Chrysler 489 case with new Richmond Gear billet caps. full spool and 4:30 gear set. As true to the days of Gassers the engine is set back 10%. The radiator is a new 3 core Big Block aluminum. The body has glass front and rear windshield. rear side is glass and the doors are lexan. The front clip is a one piece flip front end. the body is in good condition but has had some repair work over the years. The frame is real nice shape and the rear wheel wells are mini tubbed. The interior has two race seats and a four point roll bar . Wheels are new Haldibrand knock offs. Included in the sale but not installed are the following items. Aluminum fuel cell. Aluminum battery box and shut-off. B. G. 400 fuel pump. filter and regulator. Autometer recall tach. Autometer oil and temp gauges. MSD 6AL box with 2 step limiter. Brake calliper flex hoses. Pro ratchet shifter. On Jun-26-13 at 10:46:49 PDT. seller added the following information:
Note. This 427 is a recent built engine. I purchased it from a local Drag racer and it ran 11. 25's in a 3800 lb. Chevelle. The engine has brand new G. M square port open chamber heads. New pistons. rod and main bearings. The crankshaft and connecting rods are from Eagle. This is not a pump gas engine however. You need to at least mix 110 and premium gas.
