The Story of MG YA – LXC 946

First registered on the 1st January 1951. this car's had only four owners in the past sixty-three years. whilst the previous owner having kept it for over eighteen of those had laid it. SORNd. for the past seven.

Restoration and Re-commissioning:

The previous owner advised me that the car had been comprehensively re-built along with a full body-off-chassis restoration around twenty-five years ago. and this is clearly apparent by the exceptionally well-preserved underpinnings of the car. The chassis. shell and floor are in remarkably sound condition. whilst the internal furnishings. trim and woodwork are equally as good. The external paintwork on the other hand isn't quite as crisp as the photos' suggest and might best be described as ‘seasoned'. but the patination really doesn't detract from the overall appearance and grace of the car.

Mechanically the car is in excellent shape. Its Cool running engine maintains a healthy oil-pressure throughout the rev-range and with no evidence of smoke or other nasties. The gearbox is quiet (save for the normal first-gear whine). smooth and with functioning synchro on the latter three forward gears. The driving experience is equally impressive with the car able to stop every bit as well as it goes. The braking system has recently been thoroughly overhauled including new wheel cylinders. replacement brake pipes. unions. hand-brake cable and shoes as required.   Other re-commissioning work included full engine and transmission service. all fluids. filters and lubricants replaced along with stripping. cleaning and servicing the HT system. The car also features the rather novel and fully functioning 'Jackall' four corner jacking system.

The cost and effort in re-commissioning has been aimed at making the MG capable of being used as a reliable daily driver. and the car is and ready to drive away and be used as a workaday conveyance and/or show car.  The car is presently taxed and has a current V5 still bearing its original registration number. but I'm afraid there's little by way of spare parts to go with the vehicle; although I do have a very nice and complete bonnet for the same model that can go with it if required.

I have tried. unsuccessfully. listing the MG as a classified advertisement so am now offering it under auction. and I would respectfully ask that you only make a bid if you intend to actually purchase the car.  Meantime if you wish to discuss or view the MG or have any questions at all. please feel free in calling me. Pat on 01579 348542.  The successful purchaser will be asked to pay a deposit of £200. 00 via Paypal. or bank transfer if preferred. with balance payable upon collection.
