Due to the addition of a new little person to our family. my lovely MGC must go. In case you are not an MGC fan. here's a bit of general blurb. and then I'll talk about mine.

The MGC was a 2912 cc. straight-6 version of the MGB sold from 1967 and produced through to August 1969 with some sales running on into 1970. It was intended as a replacement for the Austin-Healey 3000.

The engine is a 7 main bearing development of the Morris Engines designed C-Series that was also to be used for the new Austin 3-litre 4-door saloon. In the twin SU carburettor form used in the MGC the engine produced 145 bhp (108 kW) at 5250 rpm.

The body shell needed considerable revision around the engine bay and to the floor pan. but externally the only differences were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a teardrop for carburettor clearance. It has different brakes from the MGB. 15 inch wheels. a lower geared rack and pinion and special torsion bar suspension with telescopic dampers. The car was capable of 120 mph (193 km/h) and a 0–60 mph time of 10. 0 seconds.

In 1967 HRH Prince Charles took delivery of an MGC GT (SGY 766F). which he passed down to Prince William 30 years later.

My MGC. nbsp;affectionately known as Charlotte (sad I know!) was a gift from my husband in 2009. he had owned it since October 2006.

We have had some great times in her. going to France on a couple of trouble free occasions. and some great long drives around the Cotswolds etc

She is a pretty solid example. not concourse but no rust is evident. bright work is all good. and she runs beautifully. She has been maintained regularly with two services per year at a local MG specialist. and has had any money spent on her that she needs.

She has undergone two partial restorations in recent years. the first in 2005 when everything from the cabin back was taken back to bare metal. I have photos of this. Then in 2008 I had the front end done including engine bay and underneath.

Her most recent long run was around Normandy last Summer. where she performed really well.

There are two things that need to be done however. The first is that the overdrive has stopped working. We have had the wiring checked so assume a recon unit is needed. These are £300. The second issue. is that when slowing down. she jumps out of second unless you hold the stick. I have a quote from my MG man to do all the work necessary on both jobs for £1. 00. which includes about £600 or more in labour. I have reflected this in the reserve and if you do buy the car. the garage will do the work for the agreed price. or if you can do work yourselves you will save the labour cost. as I have knocked it off the price I want.

Some small additions that I have made: There is a fitted fire extinguisher. and a 12v socket in the passenger side footwell. so you can charge phones. run satnav etc should you wish to!

Work that has been done recently has been the fitting of two new batteries. new starter motor. brand new mohair hood in dark blue.

All in all she is lovely classic car. She sits beautifully. not like some you see on eBay and you could turn her into a concourse car from a good starting point. She isn't perfect but she is 44 years old so she isn't doing bad!

PLEASE NOTE: Viewing is recommended as I will NOT negotiate a new price if you win the auction. I have tried to be as honest as possible. but you need to make you own mind up. and so bid only if you intend buying.

The Lucas spotlights and badges are not included. but badge bar will remain. and spotlights can be purchased separately.

Feel free to give me a call on 01564 793158 or give my husband a bell on 07824 901833 or drop me a line if you want to come and look.

Happy bidding!
