There's nothing quite like a late 60s MGB GT. The perfect mix between 60s sportscar design and the refinements of the later cars. These cars are a fantastic investment. with prices dramatically rising all of the time.
This car is no exception. and I feel you'll struggle to find a better one for this price. It's had a great deal of work during its life. which I will detail throughout the ad. It's only had four previous owners. which is very unusual – most seem to have had 10 or more! The car has MOT until 19th June 2017 (no advisories) and is ready to drive away. It's not a concourse show car. but it's a straight example that the new owner can tinker around with and improve along the way.
The history shows that the car was taken off the road in 2009 and underwent serious restoration. This appears to have included new floors. sills. a full respray and much more.
The car fires up nicely and idles healthily. It pulls strongly and sounds great. The carburettors have recently been balanced. and it's had a new battery. The gearbox is nice and slick - recent clutch cylinder replacement. and the overdrive functions well. Oil pressure is spot-on and the car does not overheat. The brakes stop the car in a straight line. An oil cooler is fitted. along with an alternator for added reliability.
Bodily. the car is nice and straight. The wing-top seams are nice and solid. as scuttle panel. The car has been repainted professionally – it has a nice finish (but not concours!) and a good shine. Obviously there are a few imperfections here and there – it's not a concourse car. but as you can see in the pictures. it presents very well indeed. The car appears to be completely solid throughout. Sills. castle sections. floorpans. chassis legs and spring hangers are all in good order. Original disc wheels and hubcaps are fitted. along with rim embellishers – these set the car off really nicely.
The seats have been recovered at some point. but the car retains its original door cards. The headlining is in nice order but the carpets are getting on a bit. and you may wish to replace them. They're perfectly serviceable as-is. however! The engine bay is clean and tidy. and could be detailed to make it even nicer.
All in all. this is a lovely little car that is absolutely ready to be used and enjoyed. I travel all over the country to view these cars and this one is particularly straight.
Please take your time looking through the photos – I am not trying to hide anything from prospective buyers. like the vast majority of people on eBay these days. Just check my feedback. and you'll see that I'm a completely honest seller. Do remember that there is no substitute for coming to see the car yourself.
I strongly recommend viewing the car if you plan to buy. I've described it as well as I can. It is sold as seen with no warranty because of its age. and it must be inspected before you hand over any money. All funds must be cleared before the car can be taken away. UK BIDDERS ONLY. PLEASE!
The car must be collected from my home in Chorlton. Manchester. M16. If you have ANY questions – please ask them BEFORE buying.
I can potentially arrange delivery by trailer at extra cost. but again. the car must be inspected before you pay me.
PAYMENT BY PAYPAL IS NOT ACCEPTED.
