Porsche may have given the existing 911 a final send-off with
the 493bhp. GT3 RS. but expert tuner Techart has other ideas. If
you happen to have a starting price of £380. 00 then you could be
in the market for one of the most specialist road-going Porsches
ever built.

The TechArt GTstreet program is based on the Porsche 996 Turbo and
996 GT2 has always been a super sportscar which unified these
typical TechArt genes. Despite all that. the development process of
the TechArt GTstreet program based on the Porsche 997 Turbo Coupé
started just as it did then: with a blank sheet of paper. In other
words. every detail has been newly developed. designed. tested and
optimised. As a result. the TechArt GTstreet program which is both. br/>uncompromisingly sporty as well as suitable for daily on-road
use.

Characteristic detail of the GTstreet R: the air outlet at the
rear lid and the carbon fibre air vents on both sides of the rear
apron which ensure both. an optimum heat removal and drag
coefficient. Aside from the vivid paintwork. the GTStreet RS comes
with aerodynamic optimised front wing panels and a new lower front
splitter. The rear is dominated by a huge 140mm adjustable carbon
fibre wing and the cabin can be fitted with a roll cage and sports
seats. While the standard GT2 RS makes 612bhp from its 3. 6-litre
twin-turbocharged flat six engine. Techart's tuning kit boosts this
figure to 710bhp. The GTStreet RS channels that grunt through the
standard car's short-throw six-speed manual gearbox and some sticky
20-inch Michelin Cup tyres. The impressive handling capabilities of
the standard GT2 RS have been improved by widening the front and
rear track. The larger air ducts in the rear sidewalls provide
engine and intercoolers with a larger supply of cooling air.
Special rocker panels complement the new contours. TechArt headlamp
mouldings and 2010 997 Xeon and provide the finishing touches. The
TechArt roof spoiler extends the roofline of the coupé and
optimises airflow to the adjustable rear aerofoil of the
GTstreet.
With only a handful of GT Street officially imported into to the
UK. this is indeed a rare beast and. as such. tribute examples are
consequently born. The donor car of this striking example is a 996
C4 and has been maintained by Porsche specialists throughout its
life.
Modifications include a TechArt GT Street R body is much wider and
extreme than the normal TechArt bodykit; body conversion alone cost
£50. 00. The front fascia of the GT Street with retractable
splitter produces downforce on the front axle and provides
radiator. oil coolers and brakes with more cooling air due to its
large air inlets. The TechArt GT Street bumper flares on the front
axle add 10mm to the door's width and give it an even more dynamic
appearance and the air outlets behind the front wheels optimise
brake venting. The larger air ducts in the rear sidewalls provide
engine and intercoolers with a larger supply of air and for an
optimal transition between front and rear bumpers; the TechArt
designers have developed rocker panels that complement the new
contours. The TechArt roof spoiler extends the roofline and
optimises airflow to the adjustable rear aerofoil of the GT
'Street'. The engine has been fully maintained and is reported to
run perfectly with the gearbox change still 'as new'. This all
benefits from a high-performance exhaust system. The large 20"
Porsche GT3 wheels also provide the necessary space for the
especially powerful and durable high-performance braking system.
The interior benefits from racing seats and harnesses. (roll gauge
has been removed) with Porsche GT3 2010 OEM LED Daytime running
lights provide the finishing touches. A more striking a Street GT
you will struggle to find…
