1964 Plymouth Savoy "Big Bad Jon" Gasser.
This was my Uncle Jon's drag car from 1972-1988. He purchased it from a local Fire Dept. auction after he returned home from Vietnam. It was a Fire Chief's car. Rubber floor. no options.
He ran the car at the local drag strip for a while with a mild 440. Hemi stall and 3:55's. Eventually he sold the car in 1988 as a roller with 4:88 center section. The car changed hands a couple of times before I ended up tracking it down and buying it.
Here is what it is today:
Body/Chassis:
Car looks cool and takes nice pics but has had years of battle scars. Bondo in all the usual places and so on. There was an OEM floor pan installed in the car a few years ago. Also the subframe is rock solid! Frame is all tied. Springs over 8 3/4 axle rear with all new brake hardware and lines. New air shocks. Up front there is a new Speedway straight axle with disc brakes and braided lines. New master cylinder. New OEM fuel tank and fuel line. Driveshaft loop and adjustable pinion snubber. Front wheels are vintage "Drag Mags" with new pie crust Silvertowns and rears are 15x8" steelies with Hoosier slicks (some checking).
Engine/Trans:
Mild street motor. Late 70's 440 with extremely low miles. You can eat off of it. Mild cam. Torker 440 intake. Carter Competition 750 cfm carb. Hooker Competition headers. High torque mini starter. Mopar electronic ignition system. all new fuel pump. Melling high volume oil pump. Moroso 7qt. pan and pick up. alternator (charging system works perfectly). aluminum radiator and water pump. Upon visual inspection inside the rocker assembly is spotless as it the lifter valley. 1964 747 pushbutton transmission. Fresh fluid and filter. Shifts excellent! There are NO LEAKS ANYWHERE under this car.
Interior:
No sloppy hack job wiring. The wiring is all original. All interior and exterior lights work including dash lights. oil light (have working vintage Stewart Warner mechanical gauge too). headlights (Hi/Lo). taillights. brake lights. turn signals and back up lights. Stock ammeter works in the dash and I have a new aftermarket temp gauge hooked up in the triple gauge dash. Vintage Superior 500 steering wheel. working vintage tachometer (unknown maker). Seat professionally restored like original. 4 point Competition Engineering cage. new OEM carpet.
I know I have forgotten a ton here so give me a call: (812)631-935one. I will try to answer any questions you may have and I will go out of my way to insure that we are on the same page when it comes to the car. I know this car bumper to bumper.
Car is Indiana titled to my uncle Jon and is clean / clear and in hand.
Thanks.
