1953 Buick 2 door hardtop Riviera Model 45R with 54. 00 miles.  Last year of straight 8 engine.  First year of power steering. Two speed automatic.  Red body with white top. base clear coat to match original 1953 Buick  colors.  Restored to original condition 1997. including total engine overhaul. except upholstery.  Original tube radio that works with several spares.  White naugahyde seats.  All chrome pieces re-plated. Straight body panels and flawless paint job.  Completely drivable with tire jack and tools.  Spare parts including extra seats with original Riviera fabrics for seats and doors. History of restoration: It was originally a green four door 1953 Special sedan we purchased in Sept 1987 in Maria Stein. OH (about 25 mi from Sidney). We purchased the 1953 Special Riviera body from cowl back at desert of Lancaster. California in Jan 1989. It was blue bottom and white top with hardly any rust. It was on the Special frame but with no engine. radiator. hood. front fenders. So we used frame. engine. transmission. rear end and all running parts from 4 dr sedan plus hood. Front fenders came from Montana. All Specials had same frame. engine. running gear-- just different body styles that attached to frame. There is a serial # on frame but mostly hidden by sandblasting of frame and paint. I have Xerox copy of title for owner in Maria Stein that shows he bought car from; woman in Celina. OH in Aug 1987. Also have Xerox copy of title in our name for car as 4 dr sedan and current original title for car as Riviera with body change noted. 4 dr sedan body was too rusty to restore and was sent to junk yard. The Riviera body came with frame and some running gear. minus engine. radiator and some other minor parts. But Riviera frame & running gear was dirty. rusty and not complete whereas 4 dr frame and running gear was complete and had already been restored by time I got Riviera body in 1989. Could have restored Riviera frame and some running parts but would have had to use engine and other parts from other cars anyway and do restoration over again. So Riviera frame and running parts that came with were also junked.
