1962 saw the introduction of the Bentley S3 factory bodied
standard steel saloon that became the last Bentley to be built upon
a separate chassis. The S3 now came with twin headlamps. smaller
bumper over-riders and the re-positioning of the front indicators
and side lamps into one single unit on the front wings. resulting
in an arguably more attractive look. The interior now boasted
individual front seats and optional seat belts. electric windows
and air conditioning. Mechanically the S3 was the same as the S2
with its 6230cc Rolls-Royce V8 engine and automatic gearbox. br/>however. the S3 was also fitted with larger carburettors. improved
power steering to aid smoother parking and a Lucas vacuum advance
distributor to aid fuel consumption - a specification that was
identical to the S3 Continental in production at the same
time.

This handsome Bentley is presented in silver grey over dark green
coachwork and is in highly presentable order and complimented by
the gleaming chromework. Looking inside. the interior has an
inviting feel to it; the grey leather is in extremely good order
and lamb's wool over-rugs cover recently replaced carpeting. The
headlining is new and the wood work is of a very good original
finish and there is the further benefit of the optional electric
windows. Used regularly. the car operates smoothly and has a nicely
detailed engine bay; a sign of a well cared for motor car. This is
backed up by the history file that also contains interesting early
documents such as the period Jack Barclay maintenance record. br/>stamped in the 1960's and their stock list brochure dated 1967. br/>with the car listed for sale. The green log book also verifies the
change of owner in 1967 and then again in 1973 to a gentleman who
was to keep it for the following thirty five years. Initially
registered to the businesses. the car was transferred to the
owner's private name in 1984. and the consistency of his signature
on the log book supports this. There is an assortment of MOT
certificates from the mid 1970's to date and a 1973 tax disc was
recently retrieved from under the seat. The car was marketed
by renowned specialist dealer Peter Jarvis in 2008 and subsequently
sold on to the last owner. Since then. approximately £14. 00 has
been invested into the Bentley's mechanical condition and much of
the supporting specialist invoices indicate this to be preventative
maintenance for the benefit of the vehicle in the longer
term.

Offered with a UK V5 registration document and an MoT test
certificate valid until June 2015. this attractive Bentley has a
good history and offers a reasonable entry into fine automobile
ownership.
