Rebuilt motor. rebuilt hydra-matic transmission. no post. nbsp;older frame off restoration.  You are looking at a 1956 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina 870 Deluxe 2-door coupe! This car had a frame off full restoration a number of years ago by a previous owner. According to the photo album provided it looks like this previous owner did all the work himself.  I have a full picture album from the beginning to the end of its life in the restoration process that comes with the car. This car comes with a factory optioned Star Chief 316 V-8 with a 4-barrell Rochester carburetor which produced 227 HP at 4500RPM (up from the 205HP base).   It also comes equipped with the factory optioned D-56 Dual-Range Hydra-Matic transmission. factory optioned dual exhaust. factory optioned radio that works. and the dual paint scheme that is also a factory option which is not available for the 860 base model. Everything about the drivetrain was rebuilt. Rebuilt motor. trans (shifts a little hard). brakes. carburetor. generator. radiator. and rear end.

The exterior paint is Vista and Chesapeake blue with deluxe trim to separate the two. What a fantastic color combo! Every nut and bolt was removed before the paint and clear was laid on. No overspray on anything because this car was down to bare metal and off the frame! And since it was a frame off restoration even the firewall and the under body was repainted. None of that cheap overspray over components. Again everything done exactly the way it should have. Since this restoration was done a number of years ago this car now shows signs of wear. The trim and chrome on both the interior and exterior shows fading and pitting and need to be addressed if you want a show quality car. Otherwise the patina is great! The paint is faded and shows patina itself up close. It was not a high quality job when it was sprayed but like I said before everything was stripped off the car prior to the paint being applied. There is no rust on this car! The front bumper needs repair/realignment and both bumpers need re-chrome. The glass is discoloring at the edges but are original to the car with no cracks.

Because this a no-post car (no body post between the front door and the rear passenger side window) it just invites so much breeze into the passenger compartment when the windows are down that it feels like your in a convertible! No post cars are much more desirable in the classic car market than the rival post cars. Also the 2-door coupes are also much more desirable than the 4-door version. Both of these factors definitely increase this cars value.

The interior was also restored but like the exterior it does show signs of a older restoration. No rips or tears in the upholstery or the carpet but the headliner needs to be addressed. Let the pictures speak for themselves on this interior. Windows roll up and down with ease and I see nothing at all that needs attention on this interior unless you want a show quality car. No power windows or seats on this one but no electrical hassles either! The dash looks great! Super clean!

The engine compartment is great! You can see that everything was restored. Again. just like the rest of the car. the motor compartment was detailed. No crud. no mess. no overspray. no cheap cuts here. You will love it! It like the rest of the car is not perfect but again let the photos speak for themselves.

The under carriage is great! Super clean with no crud or rust at all! Look at the photos! I keep repeating myself but this is a much older restoration. Everything is nice and tight  but faded. But you can see that there are no issues when it comes to a cover up. What you see is what you get!

I keep saying this and I will say it again. This was a frame off restoration so everything under the car was addressed as well. The frame was stripped and re-painted. And since all the suspension was removed why not?! That was stripped and re-painted as well. Everything was addressed at the time of restoration. No crud. no rust. no holes. nbsp;hardly any wear! Just a very nice clean under carriage that will definitely surprise you.

Please keep in mind this restoration was completed a few years ago and the car was driven on nice sunny weekends. It was brought to car shows over the years and driven very lovingly by a elder gentleman. It is not a high end show car at this point since it has been enjoyed and driven in only the best weather conditions. This is the perfect car to drive and enjoy. I do not like garage queens that are too perfect to even sit in. I like restorations of old classic cars that I can drive! That is the fun! Insurance is dirt cheap and the value just goes up. It's money in the bank! Just enjoy to your hearts content and then let it go to the next owner. Again it is a solid investment and you'll have a blast to boot!!
