1935 Riley 12/4 Kestrel Sprite 4 Light Saloon

ATT 485 was first registered on the 25th January 1935 and is the desirable 22T Kestrel Sprite model with 11. 9 H. P (12/4 1495cc) engine. This car is remarkably original and has had just one owner in Powys. Wales between 1970 and 2012. The Riley is a true time warp with beautifully aged green leather. original carpets and door cards. The upholstery has a delightful patina and we know the Riley has covered just 4000 miles since May 1982. With the exception of a recently replaced West of England cloth headlining. the upholstery does appear totally original and the sunroof opens and closes with ease. The Riley presents well with good quality older paintwork. The underside is structurally excellent. the body strong with good panels and odd indentations and imperfections in the bodywork that demonstrate what a useable. original car this is.

ATT 485 is ideal for long distance touring. it is a pre-war Riley that can be driven with confidence and is as honest as one could find. The Riley is in very good condition and the engine runs perfectly with correct good oil pressure. The engine has been fully stripped down and rebuilt to include re-grinding and balancing the crankshaft. A comprehensive invoice for the engine work is with the vehicles history file. The pre-selector gearbox is a delight to use with positive changes and no slipping. The general driving experience suggests the car has been maintained to a very high standard and it handles and brakes very well performing comfortably in modern traffic. The Riley has proven reliability and whilst covering a very low mileage over the past 30 years. it has been in regular use as the tax discs and previous MOT certificates highlight.

The under bonnet area presents well with a clean engine. The boot area is tidy and totally original and the chassis is in excellent order and has been painted during some light restoration work during the 1970's. ATT 485 is a superb driver and is ideal for touring and rallies. These cars are becoming increasing desirable and difficult to find.

There are some slight imperfections to the paint as you would expect with an older restoration. Also the chrome bumper and fittings have some pitting. A really lovely motorcar ready for the summer season.
