     Coming to you this week is a beautiful 1982 Mercedes-Benz 240D sedan. It is a super clean example and is very solid and rust free showing its pampered life here in the dry southwest. The car was sold new to Mrs. Elizabeth Thurston on November 12th. 1981 right here at Downtown Phoenix Motors. That means the car has lived its entire life in the dry Arizona climate beautifully preserving the body and chrome. The car is an all original survivor and has a full service history with over $5000 being spent on maintenance and upkeep over the past 4 years.       The body on the car is in very good condition and was extremely well maintained. The paint on the car is all (original other than the trunk lid) in striking Light Ivory and is in overall good condition for its age and originality. The trunk lid was repainted due to an object falling on it in the garage. There are the expected chip touch-ups around the car. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock as any well cared for garaged car should be. and has never been in any accidents. The car is riding on original steel Mercedes wheels and hubcaps with very nice new Michelin tires. All chrome trim. glass. and rubber seals are in great shape.

      The interior is almost all original condition all around. The supple palomino seats are all in very good condition and look very nice. which shows the quality of material used in this car. The carpets are all very nice are not worn or damaged. and the drivers mat looks to be the only non original part of interior. All dials and controls function as they should. windows. power sunroof. and other accessories are fully functional. The Kenwood CD system sounds great. and the car will come with the original sound system. All lights. gauges switches. and accessories work as they should. The trunk compartment is very clean and does have the original jack. ORIGINAL spare tire and wheel. and a nice trunk mat. The trunk pan is solid and the cardboard inserts are still in nice shape.

      Mechanically. this 240D runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. It is reliable. easy to fix. and parts are readily available. The suspension is very tight and feels solid even at autobahn speeds above 80mph. The car was always regularly serviced and the car was well cared for. The car just had the A/C compressor serviced. all new Bilstein Comfort shocks. new motor and trans mounts. new master cylinder and brake booster. all new door lock vacuum actuators. and a full tune up! The A/C in this car is amazing and will freeze you out of the car!

      Another neat thing about this car is that it has every original booklet and instruction card since new even right down to the Hirshman antenna key. It is rare to find these cars with all of the original books preserved in this condition. The service book also was incredibly well kept and you can tell how well this car was cared for!

      All in all. this is one of the neatest Mercedes that I have had the privilege of being associated with. It has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners.
