Before we tell you about the 1957 T-Bird in this ad. MissChiTown would like to give you an opinion on 1955-56-57 Thunderbirds.   In today's current market we feel that they are one of the best pound-for-pound buys that you can find.   Where else can you find an American iconic sports car at such reasonable prices?  In the years of 1955-56-57 the Ford Thunderbird greatly outsold the Corvette.   The general public was not ready for a hardcore sports car but more the personal luxury sports tourer that the Thunderbird exemplified.

While the 1955-56-57 are all very similar there are many who consider the 1957 T-bird to be the most handsome.   The car that you see before you is in most people's favorite color. red.   Has the rare white interior with a matching white convertible top.   Further the car has also has (as pictured) the Ford Thunderbird hardtop.   The car is equipped with Power Steering. Power Brakes. Telescopic Steering Wheel. Automatic Transmission. Power Seats & Power Windows.   We would call this a very deluxe equipped Thunderbird.

The current owner of this car has owned the car for 15 years and the previous owner enjoyed this car for 30 years.   That means that the car is a two-owner car for the past 45 years! 

This is a car that has been truly enjoyed.   The seller said that he has enjoyed driving this car during the summers. While it is not a show car and does have some chips in the paint from being quite old it is a very fun and good-looking driver.   The car could be greatly upgraded with a little TLC.

The seller said that he has had a new radiator installed. new radial tires. upgraded carburetor and air breather.   The seller said that the original air breather and carburetor would come with the car.   The original 1957 Thunderbird turbine hubcaps as they appear on this car are some of the most beautiful hubcaps ever put on an American car.    The new radial tires are a real plus because if you know anything about Thunderbirds you will know that the handling characteristics of the Thunderbird are greatly improved with radial tires.   To top this off the owner has added a sway bar in the rear that upgrades the handling quite a bit.   The car is of course equipped with the Ford 312 cubic inch engine and automatic transmission and it is a really great driver.   Again the elderly couple that own the car have truly enjoyed their summer drives in the car.   The original odometer was replaced and the car shows 1. 00 miles and it is for this reason that the actual mileage on the car is not known.   The owner has told us that the car starts. stops and runs just the way it should and is ready to be enjoyed.    Again the car is not being presented as a show car but a very nice street condition driver.

The elderly couple after many seasons of enjoying the car is finding it quite difficult to get in and out of the car and have decided to let their pampered bird get a new caretaker.   They believe as many do that the 1957 Thunderbird is the best looking of the series and that the red and white is the best color combination.   They have set an extremely low reserve on the car and from MissChiTown's point of view there might as well not be one.

If you have always wanted an iconic American car that is a sports tourer like a 2-seater Thunderbird this may be the car for you.   If you do not have the finances to purchase a show T-Bird or a highly restored car you will find that you can have as much – or more fun with a street condition that you can get in and drive and enjoy (and keep tens of thousands left in your wallet)! 

We must emphasize again that pound-for-pound we feel that the early Thunderbirds are one of the best buys in today's collector market and this car for sale is a great example of that marquee.
