SELLER REMARKS

Z/28 badges earn you a lot of respect. and if your car runs as well as a real Z. then the guy behind the wheel really will have the last laugh. One look at this 1968 Camaro Z/28 tribute tells you everything you need to know. because it looks right and has the performance of a real Z without the price tag.

Marina Blue is this car's original color. and since it was #1 with buyers in 1969. there was no reason to change it during the restoration. It's actually very well done with impressive panel alignment and a buffed final finish that gives it that deep. wet look. White SS stripes. a cowl-induction hood. and the ducktail spoiler all help with the Z/28 illusion. and proper badges were used throughout. For many. the purity of the Z/28 means that you don't add things like the RS hidden headlights. and that's the case here. giving this tribute car a purposeful look that was surely in line with the original designers' intent. You'll also find that someone spent a good deal of cash on the trim. because the bumpers are beautiful. the stainless glitters. and those gill inserts on the rear quarters add just the right amount of sparkle. It also has accessory rear bumper guards. which always give these cars a unique look and help highlight the Z/28 badge on the tail panel.

The black interior appears to be entirely new. from the seat covers to the carpets. The Z/28 didn't add many unique features to the Camaro's already tasteful interior. so getting this one right was easy. The seats themselves feature the new-for-1969 head restraints. the door panels are properly marked with simple 'Camaro' badges. and the three-spoke steering wheel is standard-issue. A factory tach and a woodgrained center console are nice options and the console is fitted with Auto Meter auxiliary gauges that at least capture the spirit of the original gauge package. if not the absolute look. There's also a Hurst shifter with a cue ball knob. all linked to a proper 4-speed gearbox. the only one available in the Z/28. A/C was never offered in the first-gen Z. but the grab handle for the passenger is a thoughtful touch and the entertainment system consists of an AM/FM/cassette stereo in the original dash slot. Pop the trunk and you'll find a correct houndstooth mat. as well as a Heartbeat mat to keep the protective mat protected.

The Z/28 was formidable. and this one packs a few extra cubes in the form of a 327 cubic inch block. It has reportedly been de-stroked to the proper 302-inch displacement. and it snarls to life the moment you turn the key. There's a solid-lifter cam inside and double-hump heads on top. so it has a wicked hi-po idle and there's a big Holley 4-barrel atop a correct Winters intake. Finned valve covers. proper '302' badges. and Chevy Orange paint add to the illusion and long-tube headers add to the torque curve. The floors and undercarriage are not detailed for show. but you can see that everything's in order. including the sturdy 12-bolt rear end and mandrel-bent exhaust system that sounds fantastic. You could theoretically get a Z with dog-dish hubcaps and steelies. but this one wears suitable Corvette-style Rallys with 215/65/15 front and 235/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials.

If you can live without a pedigree and a few different numbers on the engine block. this Z/28 tribute replicates the experience without worrying about the other stuff. Get in. hang on. and have fun. Call today!
