Ford Escort MK1 MK2 Group 4 Historic Rally Car for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 571 votes

For auction is my Ford Escort MK1 Group 4 Historic Rally Car. I built this car with the intention of competing and finishing the Roger Albert Clark Historic Rally. With this goal in mind just about all the parts used to build this car were purchased from the best top quality suppliers as this was a money does not matter build.

Shell:

I'll start with the fabrication and paint which was all done by myself. I've worked in body shops for many different manufacturers since 1976 as a panel beater and painter so the work carried out to the car is of the highest quality. The shell was very solid to begin with so it made the perfect base for a rally car. It has all of the type 49 strengthening panels fitted. supplied by Roy Nunn. Short 4 Link kit. round turrets. panhard rod kit and front skids were supplied by West Wales Rally. Steel bubble arch wings from Express Steel Panels and the bonnet and boot are fibreglass items. The underneath of the car has been stone chipped and painted red to match the exterior. the body is 2 pack primed and painted in 2 pack paint in my own take on the embassy colour scheme. Also fitted is a 6 point safety devices roll cage that is bolted to the shell.

Engine:

The engine is a bomb proof Dave Brooks 225bhp historic spec wet sumped Pinto engine running a pair of Weber DCOE48 sidedraughts. comes complete with all of the Dave Brooks spec sheets with the engine and head numbers.

Gearbox:

The gearbox is a 4 speed tran-x with quick release alloy bellhousing and quick shift.

Axel / Suspension:

The axel was built by Fostek Engineering and is a historic spec fully floating atlas 5. 1 CWP with alloy axel brace. brand new AP calipers. brand new rear bilstiens and forest spec multi leaf slipper springs. Up front there is a brand new pair of bilstien adjustable front struts with forest AP calipers and disks.

Interior:

Twin cowl dash fitted with Race Tech Gauges and Brants Trip Meter. all brand new. Alloy fuel tank fitted with Facet twin pumps

There are only a handful of simple jobs to finish the car off such as wiring up the trip meter and the dash. fluids. tyres. seats and belts require fitting which I have for the car. The seats are Cobra Suzuka Buckets with TSR 6 point harnesses.  The only reason I am selling the car and unable to finish it is due to ill health and like I say just about every part used to build it is brand new!

The starting price is £20. 00 which I believe to be more than an acceptable amount considering the car owes me a small fortune. E. g.  The Dave Brooks Pinto - £12. 00. Tran-x Box - £1. 00. Fostek Atlas Axle - £4. 00. Forest AP Calipers - £1. 50.

Viewing is recommended as you would expect with a car like this but the car is currently being stored at a friend of mines garage so any viewings would have to be on his terms.

Contact by phone and eBay message only please as I will not answer texts. Also any calls made after 8:30pm will not be answered.

THE AUCTION HAS NO RESERVE. nbsp;WILL NOT BE ENDED EARLY AND THE CAR WILL BE SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER!

Good Luck and Thanks for reading
