This is what happens when a seemingly sane man. comes up with a less then sensible idea! As you might guess. this guy is me.

Several months back. I was at a local cars show with my 1979 Porsche 930. As I was admiring it and looking at all the people taking pictures of it. something happened. The most amazingly beautiful red 87 Porsche with RS America body trim pulled up next to my car. I thought to my self. how could this car out shine my pristine Porsche 930? Moments later. I found myself in a wonderful conversation with the owner. It turns out he is a somewhat famous clothing manufacturer. and car collector. We had been talking for sometime when he mentioned that the Porsche might be for sale. if the price was right. He threw out a price that I thought was about $10. 00 high. but it didn't matter. I wasn't going to buy it. As the day progressed and I walked around the car show. I thought once again to myself. I could buy the 87 Porsche (best year ever built). and take the motor and trans from the car. and put it in my Porsche 930. then do a back date kit to an RSR. Makes sense. RIGHT? The 1987 Porsche has the 3. 2L motor. G50 transmission. better AC and suspension. I can't believe how brilliant I am. I would build myself one of the “SINGER 911” for a fraction of the price. a lot less then $400. 00. I was able to put a deal together with the owner later that day. and the mental preparation started. When I got the car. I drove it for a couple days to assess my purchase and the overall condition of the car. I found it to be a wonderful driver. with a couple small issues. The transmission shifted wonderful but the shifter was loose. and the engine had a minor oil leak. I brought the car over to Competition Porsche Specialists. and had Herb redo the front and rear shifter bushings. and fix the oil leaks. The car was at the shop for about 3 weeks being repaired. In that time a silly little thought came into my mind. “What the hell am I thinking!” I'm going to take 2 amazingly beautiful cars. and use them to make a car I hope to be half as nice as the ones I started with. The lights and bells in my head were going off saying. abort project. abort project. In a split second of clarity I was able to save 2 beautiful cars from the hands of a mad man. So now I have the car. and really no need for it. so I really should sell it.

The car is a 1987 Porsche 911 Targa. with an RS America body kit. I was told that all the parts are factory Porsche. including the rear tail. The 3. 2L motor was rebuilt about 70k miles ago. and the trans was done more recently. The paint on the car looks factory. or maybe even better. There is only a couple of very small rock chips on the front of the car. The interior is in fantastic shape. and the seat have just been redone. The Targa top has also been redone. The car sits on some light weight Porsche ROH race wheels. and the tires are almost full rubber. The car has an upgraded alarm. stereo. power windows and locks. and the Air Conditioning is ICE Cold. The car runs and drives wonderful. and could be used as a show car or daily driver. I have set the reserve at a very reasonable amount to ensure the car sells. Please ask all questions before bidding.
