1953 MERCEDES-BENZ 300 ADENAUER (LHD) GERMAN CAR. nbsp;rare  custom built  "WEBASTO FOLDING canvas soft-top roof (model 186 011)".   A limited numbers were built with an open style roof along with other Saloon/w-sunroof and Convertible models which were in the production line from 1951 to 1955.  

Only a few previous owners. it was originally supplied to German market in the 1953 then it was imported into USA. and had been owned by an American Petroleum Company until 1985 (some documents comes with the car). after that it had been with the same owner and enjoyed most its life in California before I acquired into my collection.   

HISTORY: 300 series were the most powerful and expensive hand-craft outstanding luxury automobiles in the 1950s. some units were custom built for special orders. Hollywood star Clark Gable loved the Mercedes's 300 series and he had owned a 300Sc cabriolet and 300SL. nbsp;his 300SL recently fetched $1. 85 million at the auction.   Mercedes 300 was a "Status Symbol" amongst the King. Head of States. nbsp;Rich & Famous and top Business Executives.  It was known as the "Adenauer 300"  (nickname) after its most prominent customer the first West-Germany's Chancellor Dr. Konrad Adenauer who had used six different 300s from 1951 to 1963 as his offical and a personal car after his retirement. one of his 300 was taken to MOSCOW when he visited in to the KREMLIN for his meetings. Pope John XXIII had used a custom-built 300 model as his offical car. film legend Gary Cooper and Errol Flynn had also owned it. Elvis Presley had used a Mercedes 300 while he was in Germany. nbsp;the King Gustav Adolph of Sweden and Shah of Persia had owned a few 300s. From USA Presedent  Eisenhower to JF Kennedy had used Mercedes-Benz 300s for the states visits.  Oscar winning actor late Antony Quinn had owned a Mercedes 300 convertible in a rare green colour.

This car (chassis number 186 011 00201 53) is still presented in its original / special order rare GREEN COLOUR (absolutely stunning like Antony Quinn's Mercedes 300).  It is now 60-years old but always kept in dry storage and looked after well.  Over all in a good presentable condition with an original six-cylinder 3-liter (M186) engine. done 68. 00 km / miles. nbsp;original Becker Nurburg radio. full wood trim and clean interior etc. A solid body no rust on the doors or undercarriage etc. no welding work requires.   Car comes with the original 300-model's instruction manual and workshop manual books etc.  However. nbsp;some cosmetic restoration including a good paint job. new roof (soft-top). new rubbers and some re-chrome work will certainly help to bring this car into a former glory.

Fully restored Adenauer 300 Sallon & Convertible model's price are starting from £99. 00 to £150. 00. but a good Webasto folding canvas. soft-top roof style Adenauer 300 is very hard to find.   This car is truley a collectable and has certainly a potential for an investment. and of course proud to own such a rare Regal Style Mercedes 300 in a stuuning colour.   This car is now offered for sale "AS-SEEN" by a  Private Collector.
