This is one of the most iconic shapes in modern motoring. made famous by the film Bullit with Steve McQueen in a slightly later model. Our car is a genuine 1965 Ford Mustang V8 Fastback finished in the perfect Black paint with Black interior nicely finished with a grey Cobra stripe. It is a nice older restoration which still looks very presentable indeed. It has a great stereo system fitted and modern alarm and is ready for its next owner to use and show.

Ford created a new class of car almost overnight with the introduction of the Mustang sports coupe part way through the 1964 season. catching the rest of the US auto industry off guard. Brainchild of Lee Iacocca - subsequent saviour of the Chrysler Corporation the Mustang is one of the most remarkable automotive success stories of modern times and arguably the pinnacle of his long career with Ford.

Aimed at the affluent young. for whom a car was as much a lifestyle statement as means of transport. the Mustang succeeded brilliantly. achieving sales in excess of a quarter million by the end of '64. This remarkable debut was followed by a staggering 524. 91 sales in 1965. earning Ford a fortune. The secret of the Mustang's success was a broad appeal that extended beyond the target market thanks to a great value-for-money package combining sporty looks. decent economy and brisk performance.

Mustangs could be ordered in specifications ranging from six-cylinder 'economy' to V8-powered luxury. while customers could choose from an extensive range of factory options. with the result that seldom are two Mustangs identical.

This striking Shelby-style Fastback has always been V8 powered. Reportedly rebored and generally overhauled six years ago. its present 289ci (4. 7 litre) unit boasts: a Tri Power (3 x 2 barrel carburettors) induction system; Cobra headers and air cleaner; TCP alloy engine brace; new starter motor. alloy radiator. distributor with Petronix Igniter II and matching coil. Petronix HT leads. K&N air filter. The one-year old exhaust system includes Scott Drake stainless steel headers and three-inch Magnaflow pipes. The C4 automatic transmission was overhauled three years ago at a cost of £1. 00. The brakes have also been rejuvenated and upgraded. The suspension includes lower front coil springs and new rear leaves. Edelbrock dampers. new bushes etc. The car was repainted and the interior refurbished four years ago and this impressive fast Ford rides on American Outlaw II wheels and is protected by a Clifford Concept 650 MKII alarm and immobiliser.

These Fastbacks are the model to own and as a result prices are rising all the time. this may be your last chance to own a genuine V8 Fastback in this price bracket.
