History

This car is a genuine 1 previous owner vehicle and was imported from Johannesburg. S. Africa last Summer with all correct paperwork. tax and duties paid.

The car was bought as an impulse purchase by my brother at last Augusts Ford Fair. when he saw it he had to have it but due to his work commitments it has remained in his garage unused and so he had decided to sell.

It has a genuine 112000km (69000k miles).

Bodywork.

This is extremely tidy. very genuine and straight. it is not restored. never been bodged or touched up. obviously coming from sunnier climates it is very solid with no rust or rot. As you can see from the pictures it is very tidy indeed and looks stunning.

It is 34 years old so do not expect a new car. the paintwork does have the odd nick or chip but not many. the worst being just behind the front bumper. passenger side front wing there a couple of chips and slight crack in the paint. this can be seen in the picture.

Engine bay is very tidy. inner wings are mint. . rear boot floor is solid apart from a small hole to right which can just be seen in the picture. this is not within an MOT fail area.

Wings. sills and floor is excellent. both doors are also superb.

It has the original sport decals. standard period wheels and does not even have the rear spoiler that was an option at this time.

Interior

This is also very tidy. the seats are genuine and original. he drivers seat does have some slight wear but it is not ripped or holed. the passenger and rear seats are mint. roof lining is excellent as are the door cards. the dashboard does have some small minor cracking to the top but it is not too bad and has not sunk or moved.

The heater control surround has a few marks but could easily be touched up. it does not have any radio cassette player and also has no silly hole cut outs for additional speakers.

Engine

Ok so this is the fun bit. This car sounds and goes amazing. stunning to drive and guaranteed to make you smile. the grin factor is just huge. Has its original 1600 sport engine. low mileage. it has had a Stage 2 Conversion. Twin 40 Webbers with 4 branch manifold. Sounds absolutely amazing.

It has recently had a new manual choke fitted. it can be quite hard to start from cold and you need to be patient but it does always get there. once she is warmed up . it drives amazing. I would assume it just needs a proper set up on a rolling road to get it running perfect and starting spot on.

I believe it has been lowered but I am not sure of the spec. handles like it is on rails.

Also has a remote locking auto key (had an original remote alarm set up that was just rubbish so got removed but as it had the auto door set up this was kept and used for new remote operation.

So in summary a very rare stunning looking. sounding and driving Mk2 Escort. This car is not Mint or concourse but with a little time and effort easily could be. Only 1 previous owner. well cared for. low mileage. now the weather is changing. its time for this car to be enjoyed.
