1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Big Block 455 "Triple Black" Coupe with Gold Stripes    1970 was the pinnacle of the muscle car era! This has got to be one of the most beautiful color combinations on a muscle car ever! This is your chance to purchase one of the most highly desirable and sought after muscle cars on the planet! My business partner and I recently acquired this sweet 1970 Oldsmobile from a party in Gallatin Tennessee. According to them this car spent its entire existence in that small town since it was brand new. The gentleman we bought the car from said his father knew the original owner. He assured us it was ordered new as a triple black W-30 with gold stripes. since his Dad had knowledge of the car from 1970 until he made the purchase.  This very rare original color combination sat for many years until the original owner passed away. We tried to look for the build sheet. but were unsuccessful. so we can't make the W-30 statement to be factual. Although this is a true 344 code genuine 442 with an M in the vehicle identification number proving it was built in Michigan. and LAN on the data plate which is short for Lansing. We did some research. and found out that apparently all W-30 models were built at the General Motors Lansing Michigan plant. There is still a possibility of the build sheet being under the gas tank. We never looked there. This is a true Code 19 Ebony black car. so that lead us to believe all the information we were given. The sellers said this Big Block 455 may be the original block that came with the car. but the heads are from a later model Olds. Although some very nice looking and expensive hard to find F-Heads. which only came on the W-30 models are included in the trunk. They would need to be put back together and installed on the car to make the engine more authentic. but we believe all the parts are there. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. Having F-Heads for this Big Block would make the W-30 statement hold more merit. We have witnessed similar F-Heads sell for as much as $5. 00 on eBay. Once again. these rare hard to find F-Heads will be going with this sale to the highest bidder. They will not be sold separately. so please don't ask. They deserve to stay with a car of this magnitude. The last owner did say that they remembered this car having red fender wells back in the 1980's. but as many 442 W-30 owners did back then. they were removed because they thought they looked silly. and never knew the value of having them stay with the car. This 442 does have the original rear boxed control arms. and the front and rear sway bars. The body seems to be very solid. and we believe it has all of its original panels. We saw no signs of it ever being involved in an accident. The mileage is  currently at 52. 00. and could quite possibly be original. especially since it was always licensed in that small town. The actual mileage is exempt at the Department of Motor Vehicles nowadays. The second owner we bought the car from was also from that small town of Gallatin Tennessee. The original floors. trunk. and frame are all in very decent solid condition.  Most likely because this 442 spent the last 42 years down south. If the undercarriage was coated with Satin black it would look very nice. That can be done at a nominal additional charge if the winning bidder would like prior to the car being picked up. This triple black beauty has a clean and clear open title issued from Wisconsin. nbsp;and states it was previously titled in Tennessee to verify it was previously a southern car. From everything we saw and were told. this car had only one prior re-paint under the current paint work. This is a driver's quality paint job that some people might consider to be show quality. The body was painted with three coats of Code 19 Ebony black basecoat. and then the W-25 ram-air hood stripes. and the W-30 side stripes were painted with Code 53 Saturn Gold. Following the base coat and stripes were three coats of clear coat to bury the stripes into the paint. A brand new black vinyl top was installed after the car came out of the paint booth. The body is virtually laser straight as shown by the photograph's. We tried to shoot the best angles possible to give the most accurate views of the body. All of the chrome is in good drivers quality condition or better. After the car was painted and striped. much of the chrome was high speed polished before re-installation. This car looks spectacular to nearly everyone who sees it. This true 344 vehicle identification number coded 442 is for the guy or girl who had one in high school and would like to revisit the past. or for someone who simply wants to drive around to enjoy steering their investment while their money grows. It's a wonderful car to take to your local drive-in movie theater or cruise night. It's also a great car to take to your high school re-union to remind your classmates how cool you really are. Doesn't every guy or girl deserve to have an old school classic car to tinker around with in their garage at night? These cars were made to allow the average guy or girl to be able to work on their muscle car without having to pay the high dollars of having a shop do all the work. There are a wide variety of muscle and classic car suppliers out there today that stock nearly every part you could ever need for these types of classic cars. Local swap meets are also a fun hobby to acquire parts where nearly any part can be found very inexpensive.  The original 1970 Owner's manual is included in the glove compartment. The items that were recently replaced include a new alternator. new water pump. new master cylinder. and a new four core radiator for maximum cooling. This Oldsmobile has  a nice pair of headers hooked up to the Big Block 455. There is a newer exhaust system that includes dual Flowmasters that make it rumble like a real 442 should. with brand new chrome trumpet exhaust tips.  It's an adrenaline rush when you stand behind the car listening to the trumpets through the rear cut-out back bumper. New spark plugs. a new air cleaner. nbsp;a new oil filter. and a fresh oil change were done to prepare this car for sale. This 442 fires right up and sounds like a beast!! This triple black beauty has some rare options for a 43 year old car. This 442 has a genuine General Motors steel framed hood with chrome twist downs to make sure it stays locked down in place. The ram-air cleaner was missing when we got the car. A factory Oldsmobile 4-barrel air cleaner was used in place of what really deserves to be on the car.  Various classic car suppliers have an aftermarket replacement ram-air cleaner relatively inexpensive for the next owner to purchase if they so desire. It also has the infamous Whale Tail rear deck lid spoiler to help give the car down force at high speeds. The one year only dual clam shell sport mirrors are genuine GM with the drivers side being remote controlled. This 442 is steered by a deluxe four spoke steering wheel. There is nothing like cruising down the road looking out the windshield at the nicely striped ram-air hood with a peak in the rear view mirror at the whale tail.  Other options include power steering. power disc brakes. and air conditioning.  It was ordered with factory air conditioning. but some of the components have disappeared over the years. so having the A/C option hooked up  will be left to the new owner. It's always nice to have that option available. This classic Oldsmobile rides on a set of four "cool old school" raised white lettered P225 70R/15" Goodyear Polysteel Radial tires. They are a little dry. but have very nice tread on all four tires. They are mounted on a set of four 15" inch Super Stock II wheels color coded in Ebony black to match the body with all four center caps. and all four beauty trim rings mounted with all new chrome lug nuts. This Olds has a 12 bolt rear-end. but we are unsure of the gear ratio. The horn. lighter. and clock are not working. but the clock is set on the best time of the day. It's always 4:42 time!!! The front bucket seats were just reupholstered. so they will be nice and comfortable for many years to come. Brand new black carpeting was installed at the same time the front bucket seats were reupholstered with brand new black floor mats. The headliner is in very nice condition. and still has the original over the shoulder seat belts in place. The overall balance of the interior shows very well with only minor imperfection as shown by the pictures. The sound system is a Pioneer AM/FM 8-Track player that still works good with 6x9 speakers mounted on the back package tray just like back in the day for that classic old school sound. If the winning bidder would like. we would be happy to include a set of 12 of their favorite 8-track tapes in a carrying case from yesteryear. All depending upon which artists are requested. We have a large variety of tapes. so if we have the winning bidders favorites we will try to accommodate their selections. Mostly classic rock! The dash was not all cut up like many of these cars typically were. so an original AM/FM can easily be hooked back up.  We believe we have the original 1970 one year only AM/FM that will be included with this sale. The next owner can make the switch if they are concerned with more originality.  A brand new washer fluid container. and a brand new coolant overflow tank were just added. It would not take much to bring this car up to the next level. The very nice original trunk floor was coated with factory AC Delco black and aqua spatter spray. and a new trunk floor mat was added under the nicely restored jack and crow bar. A full size Super Stock II wheel with a raised white spare tire comes inside the trunk just in case there is a mishap on the road. With a quick tire change you can be back on your way looking complete in minutes. We tried to replace all of the missing little parts that some sellers simply overlook. and add the factory decals that disappeared to make this car appear the way it did the day it rolled out of the factory onto the showroom floor.  Everywhere this car is driven people are attracted to it like a magnet. You have to be prepared to be the spectacle of the neighborhood. because everyone will know who's coming. These cars are becoming harder and harder to come across. The Tennessee climate always kept these cars in much better condition than your average car. A great deal of time. money. and effort went into making the car that is listed in this description. What you see is exactly what you get. Plain and simple!! Take advantage of this chance to finally own your dream car.  This is an investment that has shown to consistently appreciate in value with each quarter. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide has the current values that anyone can check on-line for a genuine 1970 442 W-30 listed at $84. 00 in the highest condition. nbsp;$46. 20 in average condition. and $29. 80 in the lowest condition. This is a prime opportunity to own a piece of muscle car history at a fraction of those prices. We tried to describe all of the pertinent information. so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. If anyone feels there may be something that was missed in the description. please ask as many questions as you like.  If you don't ask. you won't know! All questions will be answered in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. This is a quick 3-day "No Reserve" auction that will sell to the highest bidder at 8pm Eastern time. 7pm Central time. nbsp; or 5pm Pacific time on Sunday evening May 12th. 2013.
