1967 Ford Mustang GT Fastback

S code 390 4v (330 HP) with 4 speed manual

This is the most desirable body style with the most desirable engine/transmission combination you could buy in 1967. nbsp;arguably the most desirable year for Mustang collectors.   This was the first year of a big block in a Mustang.   The S code 390 4v was the biggest motor you could buy in a Mustang in 1967.   Only Shelbys got the 428 that year. and those have an average selling price of $175. 00.   1967 was also the year of the Gone in 60 Seconds Eleanor.   While this project would make an excellent Eleanor build. consider what this car was when it came from the factory.   Look at the Marti Report in the photos.   It is a documented Nightmist Blue factory GT. which came with white GT stripes on the lower rocker.   This is the car that people build clones of.   Look at the video below.   This is what is car started life as when it rolled off of the San Jose assembly line on November 3. 1966.

Restored Nightmist Blue 1967 Mustang GT Fastback http://youtu. be/wmvFn4aEZaU

I was going to complete this restoration. but the volume of my other work has me clearing out projects that I haven't been able to get to.

Body and Chassis

This body has had some bodywork already completed on it.   As a project. it is solid. but it needs finishing before paint. It has a fresh coat of black epoxy primer to prevent rust. The unibody still looks solid. and it doesn't appear to have any serious issues. nor does it seem to have much body filler.   The most major issue is the driver's floor pan. which has some rust through. but the rest of the floor pans look like they have been replaced at some point.   There are also some creases in the roof.   Overall. it's a huge head start on building this car.   Most of the glass in in excellent condition. but I would replace the windshield (the easiest piece to find). as it has some wiper scrapes on it.

Engine and Transmission

This project comes with a running. driving. shifting small block 289 auto installed. I have a proper date-coded 390 (block casting code C6ME-) and a set of hard-to-find Ford 390 FE real GT. S-code. Cylinder heads with 14 bolt pattern exhaust (casting code C7AE-A)  with the purchase of the car.   New master cylinder installed.

Interior

Not much to say here. It's a project.   But there are hard-to-find. high dollar items in here as well. especially the GT-correct 6000 RPM in dash tach and the major fold down rear seat components.   Looks like it has an original AM radio in the dash.

Why buy it?

Look at the value chart in the photos.   The value of these cars has been recession proof.   It's a sure thing investment.   Restored. these are solid $55k cars.   As a properly built Eleanor. they fetch $135k or more.   Ever since Gone in 60 Seconds. original 67 fastbacks have become scarce. If you are looking built it as the rare car it is. or build an Eleanor yourself. this is an outstanding project car. With some of the hardest to find GT-specific parts already collected and the vast majority of the factory parts readily available online. you could be driving her THIS summer. If you've always wanted that fastback as your dream car. but didn't want to mess with a ton of exterior body work. this could be the car for you.
