MERCEDES SL AUTO Ivory ONLY 69k MILES , STUNNING 12 MONTHS MOT

Lovely 380sl In my opinion the best one to have !

I am a member of the Mercedes owners club as was the previous owner . In fact in thois months Mercedes magazine there was a report from classic car auctioneers this model SL is definately on the up ! in fact if you went to the classic show at the NEC there were about a dozen for sale between £15- £29000 !! this is truly a great usable investment .

I have owned 3 of these - a 500SL very thirsty . a 300SL that sounds a bit dull . but the 380 has that lovely V8 sound with mpg in the twenties ! The car is a stunning period colour With  the lovely classic lines I thing they spoilt it with the air dam and big rubber boot spoiler ! 

The early 350 450 very thirsty and 3 speed so awful at motorway speed. 280 just underpowered ! Definately 380 or 420 the best  !!

This car drives great. very smooth a lovely cruising car for any distance with loads of torque . Previous owner spent a considerable amount to get the car this good even blocked out his garage windows in case the sunlight faded the paint !  There are a lot of very rough SL's around I looked at 6 before I bought this. In fact verywhere I go the car gets lots of compliments  I have added some new BBS style period alloys and a stunning Moto lita steering wheel . I think the wheel looks infinitely better than the original . and the wheels give the car a more purposeful stance and a more direct positive feel to the steering. That said I have the original wheels and steering wheel  The car is not concourse. a low milage concourse SL is £20k plus . but this is a very solid lovely car that drives great with no mechanical issues . Only negatives I can think of a couple of stone chips and passenger seat belt tensioner that could do with replacing . You will not be disappointed with this car  in fact I fancy one last road trip so I am prepared to deliver anywhere in the UK for the cost of the fuel and a return train ticket ! I ask for £500 deposit and the rest of the balance within 1 week
SERVICE HISTORY . I have over a 100 pages in two ring binders of servicing . receipts old MOTs and tax discs . stamped services upto 44k miles . various other service invoices since. last service at 64k miles . no advisories on last MOT!in recent years the car had a revamp in 2010 inc new hood. the underbody and inner arches had any slight element of rust cut out and new metal welded in . which was £850 we are talking tiny little 2-3 cm pieces ! nothing major just attention to detail ! (photographic record)receipts fron John Edwards the reputed SL specialist  for work including waxoyling underneath and inside chassis !this attention this car has received is extremely reassuring for any new owner ! as it was for me . It has excellent paint and cream interior headlining also excellent. there is a slight misting on edge of rear glass . but never bothered me . I use this top in the winter and really is a great transformation into an airy coupe with amazing visability. Soft top is black. cream lining again great condition with windows clear.   The 380 is a bullet proof engine with twin timing chains and can do hundreds of thousands of miles. you could quite easily use this car as an every day car. I have owned lots of classics including a Pagoda. Alfas Vw campers etc I can honestly say for a car designed in the late 60's this is by far the most modern to drive ! you get all that classic style looks without the fear of breakdowns or annoying driving dynamics !
