The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and its
combination of good looks. high performance and competitive pricing
established the marque as an icon of 1960's motoring. A great
success for Jaguar. more than 70. 00 E-Types were sold during its
lifespan. The Series I was introduced. initially for export only. br/>in March 1961 with the domestic market launch coming four months
later in July 1961. The cars at this time used the triple SU
carburetted 3. 8 litre. six cylinder XK engine from the
XK150S. The first 300 cars built had flat floors and external
bonnet latches and are considered rare and more valuable. After
that. the floors were dished to provide more leg room and the twin
hood latches moved to inside the car with the 3. 8 litre engine
increased to 4. 2 litres in October 1964. The Series I½. although
there was never a fixed specification for this unofficial model. br/>can be recognised by glass-covered headlights (up to 1967). small
'mouth' opening at the front. signal lights and tail-lights above
bumpers and exhaust tips under the number plate in the rear. These
were the last cars to feature the sporty toggle switches on the
dashboard.

This delightful Jaguar E-Type was originally registered in the
UK on 21st June 1967 and is supplied with a comprehensive history
file. including the original buff logbook. The current vendor has
been the proud custodian of HND555E for the last 30 years and feels
the time is right for this Series I coupé to be enjoyed by another
enthusiast. Finished in Carmen red with tan interior. this example
is supplied with a V5 registration document and current MoT test
certificate. The 4. 2 engine runs smoothly and quietly and we are
advised this 2+2 coupé drives in a manner to be expected. Given the
modest estimate. this is the perfect chance to perhaps turn a long
held dream into reality.
