This listing is by Sherman Auto Sales. Inc. in Fenton. Mo. 63026. We are a 68 year old family business and a licensed Missouri dealer. This 1979 Oldsmobile 88 Royale is a very real and true car. It would be considered a show car. but is also a turn key drive-away car. I will be glad to answer any questions anyone may have by direct phone at 314 920-2804. My name is Mark Sherman and I am the owner of this company. This car is very original and is a true survivor. with proper documentation. This car was sold to myself by the 3rd owner only to raise funds for another purchase. The person I purchased this from is the most particular person you could ever deal with in caring for a car. This is the 2nd purchase I have made from this person. The history of the car to my best knowledge is as follows. The original ownership for most of its life was in Penn. The original build sheet shows delvery in Penn and the previous title shows that as well. The car was rust proofed when new to a greart extent and I have read an original ad in Hemmings that said the car had NO Rust and had never seen rain or snow. When you see this car it shows that way. The 2nd owner was from Ohio. He was to my knowledge a speculator that bought the car for resale. The 3rd owner from Mo. . was the person I purchased it from. The Mo. title when sold will be assigned from Sherman Auto Sales. Inc as a licensed dealer on a Mo. title with all proper paper work. This is a very real car. The exhaust was replaced prior to the 3rd ownership. It is a very quality system that was done with a larger diameter pipe and muffler. The car has a very warm low keyed  throated performance sound. The catalytic converter was also replaced. The 3rd owner had the oil changed when purchased and was even done with an AC Delco filter. The 3rd owner upon purchase. which I have receipts for did the following work:
New battery. 4 new shocks. AC compressor was replaced with rebuilt compressor and necessay parts as well as retro-fitted for the current freon. The original sticker off the compressor is in a plastic sleeve. Front wheel alignment was performed by a GM dealer. A new cloth dash protector as well as picnic tray protector and rear seat top cover were also orderd and were placed in the car. I have removed those items and wrapped them in the trunk. The seats were also covered with towels and the floor mats were installed upside to protect the rubber mat as well. This car has truly been cared for.

*I have driven this car approx. 10 miles and it drives as you would expect. Below I have listed very specific details for any imperfections on this car that need to be noted. These are very minimal. but need to be addressed. I am very proud of our company history and never want there be to any surprises when making a purchase from our company.

1). The driver's side mirror that is remote control. has one of the three attached wires off on the inside and this limits the movement of the mirror.
2) The 3rd owner removed the stand up hood ornament so no one would take it. In doing this. the spring was damaged  that holds the ornament in place. I have had the ornament properly secured in the housing with epoxy. The item can be replaced. but the way it was done is not noticeable at all.
3). The heater and defroster work very proiperly. The AC is very cold. but when ithe AC is turned on it does take a short time for the vent position to change over to the AC vent. This would be in a vacuum operated door under the dash that is moving slowly. but still does work.
4) The sun visors show nicely. but do have a little sag to the cloth material. This is minimal.
5). The AM /FM radio plays properly and the clock works in the radio. but it does not show the station that you are on. I beleive the radio was changed at one time and due to the knobs. It appears it was from a Cadillac of the same time frame as the knobs are Cadillac in style on the radio.
6). The antenna operates properly. but the chrome trim cap is not attached. to the top of the fender. This would be the small chrome ring. This was in the trunk of the car.
7). The original rubber blue floor mats only. do have some fading  and minor spotting due to age.
8) On the inside door jamb on the drivers side. by the hinges. there is some flaking of the blue paint. This does not show as it is on the inside.
9). The car when rust proofed and undercoated when new was done extensively. The bottom of the doors are coated in black as ell as the inside of the door jambs at the hinge area. and the sides of the front fenders under the hood. This was the most elaborate rust proofing I have ever seen.
10). There was a tiny bit of oil moisture around the seal of the transmission pan and a tiny tiny bit around the front lower section of the oil pan. This was very very minimal and I did not touch the bolts.
11). Rear tires have a little more rounding off on the edges then the front tires. They are still very sound and the car drives very smoothly.

* I do not have a lift in my building. but I was able to take a picture on the ground to show how nice and original the bottom of the car is.

** Everyone that has come in contact with this car in our building has been impressed.   I feel this is one the nicest you will find in this unmolested truly original condition. The color is very soft and beautiful in appearance. The car was not detailed. nor was the motor washed

**Everything that I mentioned covers the car very properly. A person will not be disappointed in anyway. This is a car that can be driven and enjoyed. Original cars like this that have not been modified or abused are very hard to find. In Repeating myself: THIS IS A VERY REAL AND HONEST CAR.

**Please call with any questions. I will be more then pleased to go over every detail of the car with you on the phone My direct number is 314 920-2804. Mark Sherman  In repeating myself. I am very proud of our reputation and history of being in business. Please check our feedback. even though it is more small automotive related items. it will show you that we are a very caring family automobile business that was stated in 1946.

We do not charge documentary fees. Our vehicles are available for any type of inspection. Our vehicles are sold as-is.

Please Note: This vehicle is also for sale locally. If the car is sold. the selling dealer has the right to close this listing.
