I am reluctantly selling our Land Rover series 3. 88' 1978 short wheel base. It has undergone a complete renovation from the ground up with a new short engine fitted. Everything works as it should and it's in beautiful condition. It has a full MOT until 12th August 2014 and is taxed until 31st July 2014. It is sprayed in Land Rover Green with Limestone Wheels. it draws a lot of attention to itself.

When we purchased it the previous owner had been putting it to work and it had not had much loving. The reason he sold it was because the piston had come through the outside wall of the motor and had destroyed not only the engine but the starter motor and exhaust manifold. He was not in a position to pay for the repairs. so sold it to us.

The whole vehicle was stripped down. The chassis needed a couple of outriggers replacing and had already had the front dumb arms and rear cross member done.   The chassis was stripped and completely repainted with a red oxide. then 2 coats of chassis paint and then a light black coat of under-seal has been applied outside with a thicker coat on the inside to preserve it for years to come. The chassis is now solid and rust free. All of the suspension has been repaired or replaced as needed and the axles have been stripped repainted the same as the chassis.

A replacement short engine was sourced and was stripped. it was then skimmed and completely rebuilt with all new parts. Pistons. rings. crank. big ends. seals. bearings etc. etc.  A recondition starter was fitted with a new exhaust manifold. water pump and gaskets. The injectors were also serviced and fuel supply / return flushed through. A complete rebuild. When it was refitted into the chassis a new clutch. thrust bearing and fly wheel were also fitted. All of the four wheel drive equipment works as it should. Since refitting the motor has only covered 130 miles. It performs great and is smoke free at the normal operating temperature. It has a fully working hand throttle fitted also. The heater works as it should and is nice and toasty at normal operating temperature.

The bulkhead has had replacement footwells and floors fitted. It was then rubbed right back and has undergone a red oxide treatment before primer and top coats. The bulkhead is now rust free. It has had new vent seals fitted as well as bulkhead to windscreen and windscreen to roof seals fitted.

There are new brakes on all four corners. including. drums. shoes. cylinders and springs. A new seal kit was fitted into the master cylinder and a new seal kit was fitted into the clutch master cylinder also. The clutch slave cylinder is brand new.

Inside the cabin there are two seats fitted and a brand new cubby box. The seats have no rips or tears and are in superb condition. Everything works as it should and is all original equipment. The top of the dash show a couple of small cracks from exposure to the sun and has a small indentation / repair on the passenger side but nothing to worry about. nbsp;there is a replacement headlining fitted in the cab. The seat box has been repaired at the base on both sides. but is in very good overall condition and all brand new rubber handbrake and gear gaiters have been fitted. Inside the cabin is a real nice place to be.

When we bought it. the vehicle had been hand painted. (badly) and was covered in paint runs and some area's it was thicker than others. Both front wings had signs of damage just in-front of the bottom door hinge and this looked to have been knocked out with a carpenters hammer. It was bad. There were no lower side sills either. We decided to have the body work rubbed back to a good base standard where possible. Where this was not possible it was rubbed back to the aluminium. We wanted to give the vehicle a new but used look. so decided to not fill any of the panels with mountains of filler but to clean up the knocks and bangs and include them in the re-spray. The whole vehicle has been sprayed inside and out. It was etch primed where needed then a coat of primer all over before two top coats. The whole body is nice and straight and it all lines up as it should. A brand new pair of side sills have now been fitted. The wings retain their light damage and some of the flat surface scratches are still visible below the paint from it's previous life. nbsp;this now adds to the look of the vehicle.  A pair of rear checker plate corners are fitted to the tub as on the off side there was a poor repair already done and we didn't want it full of filler. This now retains the lovely Land Rover curves.

It has been fitted with four new 750x16 M/T road tyres. They have 10mm of tread on each and the spare is also good with +5mm of tread and all the tyres hold their air no problem. In addition to other items already listed. it has had all of the following items as brand new. a pair of rear mud flaps. side. rear and indicator lights. the inner wings and steering box guard are all galvanized. bottle jack. tow bar. front towing point (50mm ball). rear 3. 5 ton pinball (50mm ball) seven pin trailer electrics. brand new Exmoor trim rear canvas. rear number plate. both front and rear outer diff seals. All of the axle. gearbox and transfer box oils have been replaced. The front hubs now have one shot grease fitted.  It has two sets of keys.

This is a nice and honest truck. We have nothing to hide and have invested a lot of time and money into this Landy. If your looking for luxury or a sports performance then this is not for you. This is a 36 year old vehicle that retains its looks and quirkiness of the period. Its a diesel so it's not the quietest when your driving it. It's a 2286 N/A motor so don't expect turbo performance. It does all the things it should. it looks nice it drives nice and operates as it was designed to. Any viewing of the vehicle is welcome. but you bid to buy not haggle or tyre kick. This is a private sale of our vehicle. the vehicle is sold as seen with no returns. we are not trade. The V5c is in my name and all of the numbers / details are correct. This vehicle would happily travel a long distance back but remember that at 60mph it's out of steam and it takes a while to get her there! If your coming from afar we would be happy to collect you from the local rail station or airport if this helps.  An overseas buyer is welcome but the terms remain the same. You bid to buy and buyer to collect. It will need to be collected and paid for by the 24th February 2014. The vehicle will obviously not be released until paid for in full.

Payment is by direct bank transfer or cash on collection. and we will require a £100. 00 non refundable deposit directly at the end of the sale through PayPal and the buyer to contact us directly at the end of the sale. For further details or questions please through E-Mail or telephone 07773664076. Genuine reason for sale.
