This is one of the sometimes criticized Silver Shadows of the 60's. the first time Rolls Royce had gone away from traditional custom bodies with this monocoque construction. That being said it is still a wonderful driving car. the improved handling and improved performance made for a pleasing ride. This car was originally purchased by a Mr. David E. Murphy. believed to be the former CIA Station Chief of the cold war and author. The car was purchased from the second owner that had the car since the 70's and the estate that is the current owner has had it since 2008. Mr. Weber purchased the car because he had a friend that owned one and loved the way it drove so when he was approached by the late 2nd owners wife and offered the car he couldn't resist. Unfortunately the car seemed sound it began to give him brake problems and developed and engine noise shortly after he purchased it. That being said it now has a completely rebuilt drive train. entire brake system rebuilt and all the other mechanicals in the process. There are repair receipts for well over $20K that will accompany the car.

The exterior of the car is average for an unrestored one. the paint is crazing. it has many chips but you know it has never been in an accident. The chrome and bright work is fair to good. there is pitting on the pot metal parts but the chrome is decent. The glass is all in good shape with no delaminating issues. I didn't see any signs of rust issues. it is believed it spent most of it's life in CA. There are no rust issues on the underside of this car at all!

Mechanically it has had EVERYTHING it needed. the car is as mechanically sound as you'll find. The engine doesn't even have 1. 00 miles on it since rebuilt. Aside from a bulb or two. everything works on the car including the clock. I saw that it still has 3 of the original Lucas headlights. only the LH bright was replaced. The A/C is working as well. With the history of the repairs I suspect one could jump in and drive it across country without a hitch.

The interior of the car is faded. nothing is rotted or tore up but it was exposed to the sun. It has the original owners guide. tool kit and owner plate. The glove box wears a plate where it was shown at the 40th National Meet but I suspect it was a little prettier at this in 1991. I also understand the car has been listed with the RR club since the late 70's or early 80's.

If you ever wanted a Silver Shadow without the large initial layout but all the mechanicals addressed than here's your chance. The car will need paint and have some issues to address with the interior but nowhere near the investment one could make if you don't mind a diamond in the rough.

I think I've covered everything. but it's possible I missed something. I tried to show everything in the pictures and have additional pictures so send me your email address if you want to see something in more detail. The car is close by my shop so I can get any other pics you need if I don't already have them.

There is no Buy-It-Now. if you want to bypass the auction process please make an offer I can submit to the owner for approval. I your offer is acceptable a Buy-It-Now will be added. many of the auctions I do are completed that way. The reserve is set at what my research has determined to be current market value. please don't ask what the reserve is as it's not fair to the other bidders in the auction. But of course. there is a jar of Grey Poupon included.

There is no interest in any trades. the owner is not able to drive as much as she used to. I welcome inspections. the car is just a few miles from my shop in Sanger. CA and can be viewed by appointment. The winning bidder will receive clear title California title for the car. it is registered through 2015 and the Monaco license plates will remain on the car. I can assist with arranging shipping to your location or make recommendations for shipping. of course it can be picked up in person after we have received funds.

Terms and Conditions Of The Auction

The winning bidder agrees to provide a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the close of the auction. the balance is due within 7 days. The balance is to be paid through a bank transfer. Please don't bid if your funds are not readily available. if you are applying for a loan please give the bank ample time for an inspection.

The auction is to purchase a car. the winning bidder is entering a contract to purchase this car and not to look it over after the purchase. please arrange any inspections before auction end. Ask all questions necessary to make a decision before auction end.

If we arrange transportation for the vehicle. open or enclosed. the buyer pays for the shipping.

While every effort is made to provide complete and accurate information regarding each vehicle being auctioned. bidders are advised to rely upon their own research.
