1972 Porsche 911T Targa

  Description

Up for sale is a 1972 911T Targa

This car runs and drives and is a great candidate for a no worry driver or an easy inexpensive restoration.  Either way. a GREAT investment!

The car body is exceptional. The floors. fender wells. battery boxes are all rust free. It is virtually rust free and needs VERY little repair. After a thorough inspection. the car also appears to have never been in an accident. All the factory welds are intact an unaltered.

As you can see in the pictures. the car received RS bumpers and had rear ducktail spoiler.  I removed the ducktail and installed the correct deck lid and grill.  I have also removed the RS front bumper and have the correct factory front bumper.  At the time the bumpers were added. the car was painted white to replicate the RS look and the seats were recovered in leather with red piping. The car was painted thoroughly in the trunk and jams. My plan was to paint the car its original color. silver metallic and restore the car to original.  However the white paint is presentable if you are looking for a driver.

Though the car runs. it does need a few things since it has been sitting for a number of years.  The car will need. at a minimum. the following to make it a dependable driver.

Tune up the Webers Adjust the valves Replace the plugs and wires. Replace the blinker switch. Bleed the brakes and change the pads Replace the shifter bushings.  The car shifts fine but there is a little play in the shifter.

This is a number matching car with a clean and clear title.  The number on the case is verified by the COA.  The transmission number is tough to read but I am guessing that the transmission has been replaced some time in the cars history.  Most of the time the transmission case number is not listed on the COA but on this car it is noted.  Looking at the numbers. it doesn't appear they are correct. The car was a factory air car but it has been removed. Additionally. the MFI was removed at some point and Webers were installed. Though they need adjustment. the car fires up and drives every time.

The car is also an exceptional candidate for what I consider a light restoration.  A good repaint to the original color. recovering the seats to the original leatherette. have the steering wheel recovered. add door pockets. and complete the other items noted above and you have a great original car that will turn heads at any Porsche event or car show.  Plus. as you know. will be a great investment as it continues to climb in value.

The COA is here and will be included in the sale. Below are the options on the car from its original manufacturing date.

10 Black top 80 Silver metallic 11 Black leatherette C02 US Equipment 400 Light Metal Wheels 6j x 15 185. 70. vr15 tires 416 Raised steering wheel hub 453 Blaupunkt Radio Frankfurt US band 470 Comfort Equipment 559 Air Conditioning Dunlop tires VIN # 9112111138 Engine # 6122670 Trans # 326368

I also will include the stainless trim that would normally be installed on the exterior of rocker the panel. the blinker switch that needs to be replaced. and the correct radio for the car.  I do not have the chrome front and rear bumperettes.

I have displayed a number of photos. to include detailed pictures of the rust areas. in the ad to honestly represent the car.  I left some of the surface rust on the car so you can see the cars condition when I bought it.  The rust in the floors is simply surface rust.  It does not need to be cut out.  It simply needs to be scuffed to be removed.  I also have the carpet.  I just removed it for picture purposes.

I can also send you a flicker link that has over 200 detailed photos of the car.  This will give you a great idea of how solid this car is for it's age.

Lastly. I have no problem shipping the car worldwide once full payment is received.
