This is a beautiful example of a european version 1970 E9 coupe. I purchased this car in 2006 from a man named Fred in Lincoln. California. Fred was an avid car collector and this E9 was in a 4-car garage next to an old Rolls Royce. a 70s Mercedes coupe. and a new corvette. Although is has a salvage title. Fred had the car completely re-built and repainted and installed many custom upgrades. I do not know all of the particular details about the salvage title or the restoration. but the previous owner spent a lot of time and money on this vehicle. The car appears to be totally clean and stock on the outside. but has a 3. 5L engine and 5-SP transmission from an '88 535. The custom exhaust includes a set of headers and has amazing sound. The interior is near perfect with no cracks in the dash. seats or side panels. A special AC system is installed including an additional vent (unfortunately cut into the wood dash) but it does provide more ventilation to the passenger. The story Fred gave me was that this car was purchased by a service man in Europe and brought back to the states. hence the car has the shorted european bumpers. no sunroof. the roof-top antennae and no side reflectors. The speedometer is in mph. but I have an additional speedometer that is in km/h that came with the car. The E9 came with a lot of parts including a brand new set of chrome side window trim pieces (perhaps the last new set in existence). two sets of shop manuals. extra filters. car cover and other miscellaneous parts. The car was recently serviced at schatz and krum in Sacramento. Recent repairs included a new voltage regulator and complete re-plumbing of the fuel lines. The original electric motors in the windows in the front have been replaced with stronger motors which allows them to operate quicker.  Since 2006. the has been rarely driven and always garaged in Sacramento. I don't know all of the details about this car. but I encourage you to see for yourself if you are in range of Sacramento.
