ANOTHER OFFERING FROM MY COLLECTION

This is an original 1965 Chevelle "138" Super Sport and has completed a very entailed frame up restoration as a Z-16 tribute.

Only 201 Z-16 Chevelles were ever produced in early 1965 as an answer to the GTO.

The Z16 was the production code for the one year only car with its options including the L-37 396-375 engine.

The car was named the "Malibu SS 396".  These cars were more than just a precursor to the SS396 Chevelle that debuted for 1966.

They were definitely a one of a kind car with an odd list of mandatory options as well as some that were not even offered.

The few (approx. 70) survivors today demand low to mid six figures depending on condition.

Check out z16chevelle. com for more info.

This vehicle is a painstaking replica with few exceptions. It was not intended as an exact copy for several reasons.

Three of them are. several mandatory options that I believe were useless. a posi-traction axle was not available and

they were built 49 years ago with engineering of that era.

This car has been restored and re-engineered using today's superior parts and knowledge and was built to be driven and enjoyed.

Thus the unavailable 14" gold line radial tires that had to be special ordered.

It's easy to see this car was built with much more attention to detail than just gluing on some emblems.

Absolutely everything works perfectly with the only exception being the clock.

It starts. runs. and drives like brand new.

Not only does it run down the road straight and true it also stops the same way.

There are no noises. vibrations. or wind sounds.

The hood clicks to close and the doors and deck lid close with that exceptionally solid “thud. ”

The fit and finish is very nice.

This car is not so radical as to be hard to drive. in fact. it has excellent “street manners”  but make no mistake.

this is a true muscle car and its brute performance is very impressive to say the least.

With less than 100 total miles it has been driven just enough to have been well sorted and dialed in.

It is ready to go.

The engine is a fresh 1970's 454 not just overhauled but completely rebuilt.

The Muncie M20 trans is original to the car and was also freshened with new bearings. synchronizers. gaskets and seals.

The rear is a 12 bolt posi with a 3:70 gear also original to the car and it too was completely rebuilt.

WHAT IS NOT PERFECT OR WHAT DOES IT NEED?

As mentioned previously the fit and finish is very nice but not perfect. There are 3 very small paint touch-ups

(rock chips?) down low on the right front fender and one scratch about 2 inches long in front of the wheel on

the lower right quarter. The front bumper has one small blemish. These are pointed out in the pictures as well

as anything else that might be considered derogatory.

WHY IS IT FOR SALE?

I have been fortunate enough to have owned well over 100 autos in my life.

Several new ones for daily transportation but the majority have been classics which have been my true passion.

I have always preferred 60's and 70's Chevrolet muscle cars but have owned all kinds.

I have discovered other interests in my retirement years and have decided to slowly dissolve my collection.

I know the difference between a pristine trailered show car and a bucket of tin and I have no use for either.

If I cannot drive and enjoy my cars they have no value to me and I do not own junk.

I will always describe my cars honestly and disclose all known shortcomings if any.

My descriptions are just that. nothing more or less.

I show good clear pictures of all aspects including shots of the exterior. interior. under hood. trunk. floors. and undercarriage.

My objective is to display the car as if I was looking it over to buy and show as much. if not more. nbsp;than a personal inspection might disclose.

Of course you are still welcome to personally inspect or have a third party do so before auctions end. Contact me for an appointment.
