1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport Yenko Convertible                                        Doesn't every red blooded American man or woman want a bright shiny red 1969 Chevelle Convertible? 1969 was the start of the pinnacle in the Muscle Car era. and a True Red 1969 Chevelle droptop is one of the most highly sought after muscle cars on the planet. They surely don't come around too often. I will point out everything I know about this classic. I purchased it from a gentleman in East Long Island New York back in 2005. This Chevy was stored on a finished concrete floor in a heated garage from approximately 1980 until I made the trip to New York to bring it back to Wisconsin. This Chevelle was last given an inspection in New York that expired on August 16th. nbsp;1995 as documented by the windshield decal. My intentions were to always make this Chevelle into a Yenko convertible. As soon as I got the car back in town it went right to my mechanics shop. All of the front and rear brakes were completely redone. and I remembered having the dual exhaust installed right away. I do have the correct Chevelle chrome tail pipe exhaust tips that are included. but never installed. I also had the turbo hydromatic 350 transmission completely rebuilt by one of my best buds who owned his own transmission shop for over 30 years. I was always searching around for a nice 427 to drop in this bad boy. but could never find the right one. The awesome 427 dual snorkel air-cleaner will be waiting to sit on top of a Big Block! That will be the decision of the next owner if they so desire. The 350 engine may or may not be original to the car. but the last owner was unsure. and I had never known how to check Chevy's. nor was it a concern of mine. since I had always anticipated the 427 switch. This engine does start right up with the electronic ignition changeover. but it does have an oil leak. With this spur of the moment decision to sell. I never had a chance to look into the leak. This droptop will start up to drive right on a car carrier or trailer for shipment. The prior owner had lower patch panels put on the fenders. nbsp;and the doors are still in very decent condition. The rockers are also nice. and so is the trunk lid. I ordered new quarter panels. and for some odd reason it took me over a year to get them from Dearborn Classics. They kept telling me that the ones they were sent were damaged. so they kept sending them back. I nearly gave up on them. but perfect ones eventually showed up. The new quarter panels were professionally welded on. I then had the entire car given a good sanding followed by the application of two coats of primer. The drivers floor has a small patch. and the passenger floor has an even smaller patch. The rest of the floors are in very good original condition. The original trunk floor is amazingly solid. and the frame is in really nice shape. I believe the reason the undercarriage held up so well was due to the way this car was always garage kept for all those years. and that it was factory undercoated as shown in a picture. There is a set of four B. F. Goodrich Radial T/A steel belted radials with nice tread mounted on the Chevrolet Rally wheels with all four bolt on SS center caps. and all four beauty trim rings. After the trunk was coated with spatter spray to make it appear factory correct. a new trunk mat was placed on top of the trunk floor. There is a nicely detailed original jack and crow bar with a full size B. F. Goodrich full size spare tire on a matching wheel. The clip on portion of the jack even says 1968 Chevelle. so apparently that was the jack that came with the car. This way if there is ever a mishap on the rode. you can always be back on the road in minutes looking complete. I had a new white convertible top with a new well liner installed that has the black glass window option. but my guy never finished it. The top worked fine before the replacement was made. and the motor. lines. and cylinders are all still hooked up. The two top cylinders are not bolted down on the sides. so those will need to be reattached prior to the top going down by the dash switch. I believe there are 2 bolts on each side to reattach each cylinder.  The top will go down manually until the cylinders are mounted. Just an FYI. you can never force a power top down with the cylinders attached or the cylinders will be blown out. thus the reason for them not being reattached at the moment. The top will need to be trimmed and stretched. and the front bow strip. and the back tacking strip with the two chrome ends are missing. Any interior supply store has them for about $20 each. The dash pad has several cracks. so a new dash pad will need to be purchased. An original AM radio is in the dash. but not hooked up. This Chevelle originally had a red bench seat interior. but since I was going to keep it. I had it switched over to the white bucket seats. and the console with the horseshoe shifter as shown in the pictures. I purchased the bucket seats and the back seat in very nice condition from another muscle car enthusiast that gave up on his convertible restoration. The black carpet is new. and was installed when the bucket seats were mounted. The column shift is still hooked up until the winning bidder hooks up the floor shifter linkage. I've done this relatively simple transformation several times. A small hole needs to be cut in the hump on the floor. and a floor shifter cable just needs to be hooked up to the transmission. This is a much better look in these convertible's than a bench seat. Since I was always going to keep this awesome old classic convertible. I was never in a rush to complete it. Everything I have accumulated for this car over the years will be included in this sale. I have a brand new front bumper. a brand new rear bumper. all four new wheel opening moldings. nbsp;both new rear tail light chrome pieces with the rubber gaskets. new genuine GM grille extensions. and believe it or not. I even have a cloth bra to go across the front. Now I've never seen one. but I just couldn't pass it up at a swap meet. Whether the new owner will ever want to see it on this car will be up to them. I've seen non-numbers matching 69 Chevelle hardtops bring in excess of $60. 00 simply cloned as a Yenko. I showed some pictures to let all the viewers see how awesome a Yenko clone can look.  This Chevelle was ordered new in triple red. I know that is a very rare combination. but I was planning on keeping this one for myself until I had a heart attack in December. That is the only reason I am selling this car without seeing it turn into a Yenko. This is a very nice piece to either make back into the triple red original or foresee what I had envisioned. Then again the new owner might just want to make a sweet SS396 Super Sport Convertible. This Chevelle will need the restoration to be completed. but I believe all of the hard work has been done. I placed the registration in my name in 2011.  This car is being sold with an open. clean. and clear Wisconsin title. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible with a 350 engine. and the Super Sport package valued at $98. 10 in high condition. which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored. or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $60. 10 in average condition. which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint. trim. and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out.  They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! They have the lowest condition value at $31. 55 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration. but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car. Naturally this model is not that exact model. but with the Yenko striping package I personally believe this rare gem is very capable of reaching those type of prices. furthermore if the new owner were to place a 427 cubic inch engine under the hood. I think this droptop could reach 6 figures if done to Barrett-Jackson standards.  The numbers don't lie! This Convertible is a very valuable automobile! These Chevelle convertibles have consistently shown to escalate in value with each quarter. Whether you had one as a youth and would like to recapture that glory or you just want to drive around a bank account. this may be the droptop you've been dreaming of.  If you really want to make yourself one spectacular looking convertible be prepared to be the spectacle of the neighborhood. Everywhere you drive these cars people are attracted to them like a magnet. These cars are getting harder and harder to come across. Why pay the inflated prices like those listed above when you can own the same looking car for a reasonable amount of money?? No one will know that this car is not an authentic Yenko except the new owner and me. I'm not telling anyone!! Yes. I do know they never made a Yenko Convertible.  I'm fairly certain all Yenko Chevelle's. Camaro's. and Nova's were hardtops.  This is a prime opportunity to own a piece of muscle car history at a fraction of that price. A great deal of time. money. and effort went into preparing the car you see listed in this description. What you see is exactly what you get! I tried to describe all of the pertinent information. so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. I am a brutally honest person. so if there is anything else you feel I may have missed. please ask me any question you like. I pride myself in answering every question in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. I'm sad to see this one going without having finished what I envisioned. My loss is your gain! This cool All-American classic muscle car convertible is being offered at "No Reserve" on a quick 5-day auction ending Sunday evening at 8:00pm Eastern time. 7:00pm Central time. and 5:00pm Pacific time.
