1982 chevrolet corvette, converted to Carburation away from Crossfire (300HP+) for sale
Current customer rating:
$15. 00 OBO.
The crossfire system was getting tired and hard to find people to work on so I had the car converted over to an edelbrock performance carburated system. The horsepower used to be 200 and is now over 300 making it a much faster and better running car than the worthless crossfire system. Lots of low end grunt.
The car has brand new black paint (3 coats of base and 2 coats of clear).
List of improvements
Aamco of Fort Walton Beach. FL rebuilt transmission to a solid 700 R 4 removing the old electronic overdrive and making operate like any other carburated car. It literally has 10 miles on it. Warranteed for another 11 months. I used steel braided trans cooler lines
New Al Knoch interior about 2 years old. also Replaced steering wheel. but have original. Tires have about 4000 miles on them.
New battery with 3 year warranty.
Replaced the fully functional crossfire system and kept ALL wiring harness and other items in place. Still have orig. manifold. These can go with the car.
Went with Edelbrock Performer manifold with 600 cfm edelbrock carb with electric choke
8 mm spark plug wires and platinum bosch plugs.
HEI Distributor specifically designed for this swap from Ecklers Corvettes (most parts were from Ecklers.
Chrome accent HI FLOW open top air cleaner
Chrome valve covers
180 degree thermostat with chrome housing.
Steel braided heater hose
All new vacuum lines throughout the car.
New water pump
mallory fuel pressure regulator (to reduce pressure from electric fuel pump in tank)
new seals and gaskets and hoses throughout
new suspension bushings around
New Magnaflow performance exhaust - NO CATS (not super loud. just solid rumble and great revved sound. )
New u-joints and had the driveshaft balance checked to make sure.
I kept the entire bottom end of the engine stock and unaltered as it was in great shape and has 150+ compression in each cylinder. With only 66 k miles it has probably got a long life left. but it had NO power with crossfire. Now it thumps and has solid muscle car torque and sound thru the magnaflow exhaust. Easy tire burning if you want to spin them.
Brand new windshield. new weather stripping. new rear view mirror and lots of other new stuff.
Issues:
The A/C worked when I bought the car. but I took it apart during the rebuild and never hooked it back up. I have all of the parts (only the condensing coil is out of the car). This was just a cruising fair weather car for me and I always had the T-tops off and windows down. It is cheap to get factory A/C working if desired. way more fun to have it open air.
I've never messed with the radio. It is stock and I'm not sure if it works or not. I like the engine/exhaust sound when driving these olds cars.
I kept a buttload of receipts (over $8 k new parts) and almost every old part and bracket that was still usable including the original exhaust and the original crossfire manifold.
This was a great project car for me and is now a reliable very good condition 1982 corvette ready for long cruises. car shows or even daily driving.
