This 1971 911E Targa is the culmination of a multi-year build and upgrade process. It is the obvious labor of love and has some truly incredible upgrades. The restoration was completed in 1999 when the car had 68. 34 miles on it. It has traveled just over 5. 00 miles since. Here is the overview:

Engine-

Case- 1976 911S California Spec 7R by CE Engineering- oversized bearings. line bored and decked. hardended exhaust studs. Pistons and Cylinders- Mahle 92mm (2. 8 liter)Compression Ratio- 10. 3-1Cams- 911S from Web CamHeads- Ported and polished. 3-angle valve job. titanium spring retainers. hollow rod pinsInduction- Weber 40 IDAExhaust- Headers with Supertrapps. no heatOil Cooler- Front OEM 3. 2 Carrera cooler

The build was based upon the concepts outlined by Bruce Anderson in his book “Porsche 911 Performance Handbook”. The car is estimated to be making ~240hp.

Transmission- The 901 Gearbox was rebuilt by Gordon Ledbetter with ZD 5th gear. Best shifting 901 I have ever driven! Wheels and Tires- The car is sitting on a replica set of 16x7 and 16x8 Fuchs. The tires are from 1999 and should be replaced due to age.  Brakes- Stock with “N” aluminum 911”S” calipers Suspension- Koni adjustable front stuts/rear shocks. adjustable downlinks front and rear. 20mm rear sway. poly bushings. lowered. aligned and corner balanced.  Paint- The car was originally delivered in 8410 Metallic Blue. The car was disassembled to the bare tub. there is no visible evidence of the previous color. The current color is very close to Porsche Arena Red metallic.  Body- During the restoration the car received metal rear flares. fiberglass RS ducktail and a RSR style front valence. The body work is done to a very high standard however the rear ducktails fitment is not quite perfect (as is typical with the fiberglass tails).  Lights- The car has a VERY nice set of Hella H1 lights. big $$Rust- I can find no evidence of rust on this car or significant rust repair in the cars history. very solid.

Interior-

Seats- One of the coolest things about this car is that it has the ultra desirable OEM Recaro sport seats! On the open market these seats alone are selling for almost what a 71 911 cost new. CRAZY! These are in excellent shape! Correct date matching seats belts as well.  Rear Seats- Excellent! They also have correct date matched rear seat belts.  Dash- The dash has a high quality dash cap on it which looks nice but is not OE. All the gauges are nice and work with exception of the clock Carpet- The carpet was replaced during the restoration and looks very nice. It also comes with a set of Lloyds mats.  Door panels- The original panels are nice however the door pockets have been removed and trimmed in carpet so they look finished.  Steering Wheel- It has a nice period correct 350mm Volanti Luisi leather wheel and Momo shift knob.  Stereo- It has an updated head unit with USB and newer speakers. It has a period correct rear speaker box on the rear shelf in matching black vinyl. nice! Targa- The outer skin and headliner have been recently replaced. in very nice shape.

Overall:

This a great car if you are looking for an early hotrod. its not for the purist! The 2. 8 makes silly power and sounds outrageous! It shifts like a dream and handles even better. It has some uber desirable and valuable parts (sport seats. H1's. etc…) and is just a very cool car that shows pride in ownership. What a car!
