SPECIFICATIONS Year 1962 Make Ford Model Galaxie Sunliner Convertible VIN 2E65X211475 Mileage 46. 58 Engine 352ci Cylinders V8 Transmission Ford-O-Matic Title Clear Color Black Interior Color Red DESCRIPTION Ford introduced the Galaxie in 1959 as an upscale complement to the Fairlane in 1959. Available in six models. it largely resembled its less ornate brother with the exception of a Thunderbird-inspired rear roofline. Outside there was a substantial amount more chrome and interior luxuries. By 1960. the Galaxie was completely redesigned and by 1962. the Fairlane name was chosen to represent the new intermediate size cars. The rear fins were gone and the taillights were round and were placed gloriously between the chrome and the trunk lid. A plethora of engines were available. all the way from a 223ci Mileage Maker 6-cylinder all the way to a new triple-carb 406ci monster. Also introduced were 500 and 500XL trim levels. The variety of body styles. trim levels and engines proved to be a success for Ford and the 446. 95 Galaxies found their way into American homes in 1962. Ford's 1962 advertising campaign called the Galaxie "America's liveliest. most care-free cars!" To vouch for this. the 1962 Galaxie was the first car to promise 6. 00 mile service intervals!
