1958 Chevy Apache

Recent Restoration

Task-Force pickups in 1958 were all new. Their styling hallmarks included the truck industry's first wraparound windshield. Chevrolet advertising called it a "Sweep-Sight Windshield". This idea was first shown the year before on GM's innovative Buick LeSabre concept Motorama show car. Other interesting styling innovations include shrouded. dual headlights in visored fenders. a classic egg crate grille. running boards concealed behind the cab doors and the optional wraparound "full view rear window" that this beautiful Apache has. The low-hub steering wheel has its hub depressed three inches below the pane of the steering wheel's rim for added driver safety and better viewing of the instruments.

This recent restoration includes a 12-volt electrical system. a rebuilt 235. 5 Thriftmaster engine that provides 123 net horsepower and produces 210 ft. -lb. of gross torque with a GVW of 5000 lbs. Also included is the original owner's manual in the glove box.

We went through all of the electrical and mechanical components on this truck from front to rear and either repaired and refurbished or replaced what was needed. We also went over every square inch of metal on this truck and completely replaced the interior and exterior cab corners. door steps. bed-side step plates and front fenders. This is an all steel truck. The bed was replaced with fine white oak with a medium stain to complement the fantastic new base coat/clear coat blue paint job. The oak bed was coated with three layers of marine-grade urethane. We also replaced all hardware (including the polished bed strips) with stainless steel hardware).

To finish it off. we mounted Coker 235/75/15 radial tires with 3¼ inch whitewalls on the original steel rims which we painted the same color as the truck body. The interior is solid with trim paint in silver and black.

I hope you like what we've done to restore this fine truck to almost original condition. It's not a show truck. but it sure looks like one. It was restored to be driven and enjoyed by folks who appreciate great old trucks.
