Nice roadster pickup with older restoration. Traditional colors, wood stakes for the bed, recently serviced. Extra wheel and tire assembly included. Runs and drive well, ready to have fun this summer!

Of the dozens of body styles available on the Model A chassis, few are as appealing as the roadster pickup. Practical yet fun, with a no-nonsense look that transcends the ages makes for a neat truck that's at home almost anywhere. Dressed in traditional Kewanee Green with black fenders and Tacoma Cream wheels, it looks right as a commercial vehicle. That also means a painted radiator shell and headlight buckets, which only add to its all-business appeal. Proportions are excellent, so the tough little truck has a sporting look and the top is removable (roadster pickup tops did not fold, oddly enough) for open-air motoring. A single side-mounted spare was standard equipment, with this one wearing an accessory tire cover with Ford script emblem, as well as a bright chrome front bumper. In back, the bed is finished with painted wood planks, as original, as well as a set of nicely finished oak bed rails that increase carrying capacity and look great doing it. A single taillight is correct and there is no rear bumper, as original. The restoration is probably 30 years old at this point, but it's holding up nicely with a bright shine to the paint and only modest signs of use. With long-term ownership behind it, this is a truck that's been loved for many years.

Simple black leatherette was standard on the roadster pickup and it's a great choice—durable and weather resistant, it will provide years of service. The rest of the interior is standard Model A, which is good news because it's familiar and easy for anyone to handle. The steering wheel is big enough to make steering light and easy, with the headlight controls and horn button in the center. The two levers on the steering column control spark advance (left) and the throttle (right), while the pedals are arranged conventionally with the clutch on the left, brake in the center, and accelerator on the right (that's a foot rest next to the accelerator pedal). The three-speed manual transmission is non-synchronized, so you'll need a quick double-clutch between gears, but it's easy to master. Gauges include the basics, although the fuel gauge is currently not working (we believe the float has failed). There's a tough rubber mat over the wooden floor boards and the top is in excellent condition (again, it does not fold on roadster pickups and this is how they were built).

The rugged 201 cubic inch inline-4 really needs no introduction. Simple enough for anyone to service and torquey enough to make driving fun, it's been an endearing part of the hobby for nearly a century now. It starts easily and idles properly with that distinctive Model A soundtrack. The carburetor is an aftermarket Tillotson unit with an Air Maze flame arrestor, but otherwise it remains completely stock. It's also correctly detailed with Ford Green engine enamel, proper hose clamps, and original-style hoses and clamps for the cooling system. Shifts are clean and it cruises happily at 45-50 MPH without much effort. Brakes are mechanical, so they require you to plan your stops and drive smart, but they're effective given the car's modest curb weight. Older 4.75/5.00-19 blackwall tires give it the right look, but you might want to replace them if you're planning on a lot of touring, we are unsure of their age.

Attractive and easy to drive, the roadster pickup remains one of the all-time favorite Model A body styles. Imagine the fun you can have taking it to Home Depot on Saturday morning then on a country road tour on Sunday. Few other vehicles can deliver the blend of practicality and fun that this little truck does. Call today!
